''Korzár'' ( Slovak: ''Corsair'') is a regional newspaper published in Košice, Slovakia. The paper has been in circulation since 1998. History and profile The newspaper was established in 1998. At the initial stage, the paper was named ''Korzo'' and was renamed later as ''Korzár''. It is headquartered and published in Košice. The paper was published in broadsheet format. Then it switched to the tabloid format. ''Korzár'' is the largest and only regional publication of Slovakia. It covers news on eastern Slovakia and has the highest circulation in the region. It has four regional editions. From 1998 to 2016 the editor-in-chief of the daily was Peter Bercik. In 2016 Jaroslav Vrábeľ succeeded him in the post. The publisher is the Petit Press publishing house. The Petit Press also publishes ''SME'' and ''Új Szó Új Szó ( en, New Word) is a Hungarian-language only daily newspaper published in Bratislava, Slovakia. ''SME'' or ''Denník SME'' (in English: ''WE ARE'' Daily) is one of the most widely read mainstream broadsheets in Slovakia. Their website, SME.sk, is one of the most visited Internet portals in Slovakia. History and profile ''SME'' was founded in mid-January 1993. ''SME'' appears 6 times a week. It is issued by Petit Press. The sister newspapers of ''SME'' include ''The Slovak Spectator'', ''Új Szó'', ''Korzár'' and various regional My noviny newspapers The former managing editors were Martin M. Košice
Košice ( , ; german: Kaschau ; hu, Kassa ; pl, Коszyce) is the largest city in eastern Slovakia. Új Szó
Új Szó ( en, New Word) is a Hungarian-language only daily newspaper published in Bratislava, Slovakia. It also publishes a weekly Sunday supplement titled Vasárnap ( en, Sunday, before 1990: ''Vasárnapi Új Szó''). History ''Új Szó'' was established by a party order on 1 December 1948. It originally started as a weekly magazine of the Hungarian branch of the Communist Party of Slovakia (KSS) first printed on 15 December 1948, but quickly transformed into a daily newspaper which was first printed on 1 May 1949. The original banner of the newspaper read Workers of the world, unite!, but following a governmental order, it was changed (from 21 May 1951) to "daily newspaper of the Communist Party of Slovakia". The newspaper slowly shifted from hard-line communist doctrine to the point where, during the Prague Spring in 1968, it denied cooperation with the ruling party.
