The Koroit Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Saints'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the small rural town of Koroit, Victoria. Hampden Football Netball League
The Hampden Football Netball League is an Australian rules football and netball league based in South-Western Victoria, with clubs located in towns along or near the Princes Highway from Camperdown to Portland. The league is a major country league. It comprises an amalgamation of the Hampden Football League with the women's netball league with the same teams and playing draw. History The ''Hampden Football League'' was formed in 1930, when the four founding clubs broke away from the Western District FL. Terang and Camperdown did not want to continue to travel to Hamilton because their players were farmers who could not spend all day away from the farm to play football, as they had cows to milk. Mortlake agreed with Camperdown and Terang and resigned from the WDFL. Cobden was left with a predicament, and requested admittance to the new league. Gary Keane
Gary Keane (born 4 January 1964) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Keane, a forward, was recruited to Fitzroy from Koroit. He had his best season in 1987, when he kicked 23 goals, took 105 marks and earned 10 Brownlow Medal votes (equal most by a Fitzroy player). At the end of the 1989 season, in which Keane didn't play a game, Fitzroy traded him to Geelong, in exchange for a second round selection in the 1989 VFL Draft. He was sacked by Geelong without playing a senior game. Martin Gleeson (Australian Footballer)
Martin Gleeson (born 25 August 1994) was a professional Australian rules footballer, who played for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). His position on the field is half back. He is the nephew of former player Adrian Gleeson and the cousin of player Willem Drew. Early career Gleeson played for the North Ballarat Rebels in the TAC Cup. He was drafted by with pick 53 in the 2012 national draft and played 13 games in the VFL before injuring his shoulder. Like his uncle Adrian, he played for Koroit as a junior. AFL career He made his AFL debut against in round 1 of the 2014 AFL season. Chris Stacey
Chris Stacey (born 21 February 1966) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy and the Brisbane Bears in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Originally from Koroit, Stacey was called up only once by Fitzroy, for a game against the Sydney Swans at the SCG. Stacey joined Brisbane for their maiden season in 1987 but had to wait until midway through the year to break into the seniors. When he eventually made his Bears debut, once more against the Swans, he starred with 16 disposals and four goals. He however played only two more games for Brisbane. Adrian Gleeson (born 30 April 1967) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Gleeson, who played as a rover, finished eighth in the 1988 Brownlow Medal count, in his third season of league football. Wearing the number 12 guernsey, Gleeson debuted for the Blues in round seven of 1986 in the 40-point victory over Collingwood in what was the last game between these two fierce rivals played at Victoria Park. Mark Dwyer
Mark Dwyer (born 5 August 1964) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy and St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1980s. Dwyer was a wingman, best remembered for his strong debut season. He had started 1986 playing with Koroit but got a permit to join Fitzroy's reserves team during the season. In his second reserves outing he had 40 possessions and was promoted to the seniors by coach David Parkin. He made his VFL debut in round 15 and played every game for the rest of the year, including their thrilling finals wins over Essendon and Sydney as well as their preliminary final loss to Hawthorn. He polled at least one vote in each of his first five games in the 1986 Brownlow Medal count and another three in his seventh.
