Korg Mini Pops
The Mini Pops were a number of early analog drum machines from the Japanese musical equipment company Korg during the late 1960s and the 1970s. The machines were based around a number of preset rhythm patterns, such as waltz, samba, rhumba, bossa nova, tango, slow rock, swing, and rock 1 and 2. Models Minipops 3 Released 1967, and features four drum sounds. Minipops 5 Released in 1966. Minipops 7 The Mini-Pops 7 released in 1966, featured 15 drums sounds and 20 patterns. It was the most used of all, French musician Jean-Michel Jarre, used it throughout his breakthrough album, '' Oxygene''. Some rhythms was achieved by overlaying two of the presets in a manner not intended by the machine's original design. Aphex Twin used it on his album '' Syro'', and in homage named his single " minipops 67 20.2. Echo and the Bunnymen also used the Mini-Pops 7 drum machine at the beginning of their career. Aphex Twin
Richard David James (born 18 August 1971), best known as Aphex Twin, is an Irish-born British musician, composer and DJ. He is known for his idiosyncratic work in electronic styles such as techno, ambient, and jungle. Journalists from publications including '' Mixmag'', '' The New York Times'', ''NME'', '' Fact,'' '' Clash'' and '' The Guardian'' have called James one of the most influential or important artists in contemporary electronic music. Raised in Cornwall, James began DJing at free parties and clubs in the area in the late 1980s. Korg Synthesizers
, founded as Keio Electronic Laboratories, is a Japanese multinational corporation that manufactures electronic musical instruments, audio processors and guitar pedals, recording equipment, and electronic tuners. Under the Vox brand name, they also manufacture guitar amplifiers and electric guitars. History Korg was founded in 1962 in Tokyo by Tsutomu Kato and Tadashi Osanai as ''Keio Gijutsu Kenkyujo Ltd.''. It later became because its offices were located near the Keio train line in Tokyo and Keio can be formed by combining the first letters of Kato and Osanai. Before founding the company, Kato ran a nightclub. Osanai, a Tokyo University graduate and noted accordionist, regularly performed at Kato's club accompanied by a Wurlitzer Sideman rhythm machine. Rimshot
A rimshot is a percussion technique used to produce an accented snare drum backbeat. The sound is produced by simultaneously hitting the rim and head of a drum with a drum stick. Univox
Univox was a musical instrument brand of Unicord Corporation from the early 1960s, when they purchased the Amplifier Corporation of America of Westbury, New York and began to market a line of guitar amplifiers. Univox also distributed guitars by Matsumoku, effects units by Shin-Ei Companion, and synthesizers by Crumar and Korg. In 1985, Unicord Corporation was purchased by Korg, and the Univox brand was phased out. History In the early 1960s the Unicord Corporation, a manufacturer of electric transformers, purchased the Amplifier Corporation of America and began marketing a line of amplifiers under the name of Univox. The company was purchased by Gulf+Western in 1967. ''Équinoxe'' (, en, Equinox) is the fourth studio album by French electronic musician and composer Jean-Michel Jarre, released in December 1978 on the Dreyfus record label, licensed to Polydor Records for its worldwide distribution. The album featured two singles: "Équinoxe Part 4" and "Équinoxe Part 5", the latter having more success reaching No. 45 on the UK Singles Chart.
