John Koren
John Koren (1861–1923) was an American clergyman and statistician. Education and career John Koren was born in Iowa as one of nine children of the Norwegian-American church leader Ulrik Vilhelm Koren. He was an 1879 graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and an 1882 graduate of Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, with a degree in divinity. Most of his later life, he spent in public service as a government employee for the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Bureau of the Census, and the City of Boston's statistics department. As a statistician, Koren's interests lay in social welfare and the description of societal problems, e.g. prison inhabitants, crimes, and alcoholism. Koren served as president of the American Statistical Association in 1913–14. Koren Zailckas (born 1980) is an American writer and memoirist. Her debut, '' Smashed: Story of a Drunken Girlhood'', was released in 2005 by Viking Penguin and became a ''New York Times'' bestseller. Zailckas attended Nashoba Regional High School in Bolton, Massachusetts, Syracuse University and Bennington College. She is a 2014 recipient of the Alex Awards. Koren Shadmi (born 1981) is an Israeli-American illustrator and cartoonist. Career In 1998, at age 17, Shadmi released his first graphic novel in Israel, ''Profile 107'', a collaboration with mentor cartoonist Uri Fink. In 2002 Shadmi relocated to New York to study at the School of Visual Arts, where he now teaches illustration. Shadmi's first English book, ''In The Flesh'', - a collection of comics dealing with relationships - was published by Random House in 2009. Koren Lynard Robinson (born March 19, 1980) is a former American football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons. He played college football for North Carolina State University. Koren Jelela, also known as ''Koren Jelila Yal'', (born 18 January 1987 in Shewa) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. Career At the 2007 World Cross Country Championships she finished nineteenth in the senior race. With four Ethiopian runners ahead of her she missed out for a place on the victorious Ethiopian team. The same thing happened in 2008, when Jelela finished fourteenth individually. She was less successful at the 2009 edition, as she finished in 30th place.
