Korean Popular Culture And Arts Awards
The Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards () is an annual South Korean government-run awards ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Korea Creative Content Agency. The ceremony, which was first held in 2010, "honor those who have made a contribution to contemporary pop culture and the arts, including actors, singers, comedians and models." Categories There are four categories of awards: * Order of Cultural Merit (문화훈장) * Presidential Commendation (대통령표창) * Prime Minister's Commendation (국무총리표창) * Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendation (문화체육관광부장관표창) The Order of Cultural Merit is considered to be a higher honor than the commendations. Korea Creative Content Agency
The Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) is a South Korean government agency which is affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and is charged with governing cultural content. As part of its partnership the Export-Import Bank of Korea, the agency provides loans for small companies producing cultural products such as TV shows, films, games and animated series. History In 1978–2009, the Korea Creative Content Agency was established with the merger of several South Korean government organizations such as the Korea Broadcasting Institute, the Korean Game Industry Agency and the Culture and Content Agency. In 1986–2013, the agency signed a memorandum of understanding with King Sejong Institute (a state-supported institution that teaches Korean) to introduce '' hallyu'' content as part of Korean language classes. Highlight (band)
Highlight (Korean: ) is a South Korean boy band formerly known as Beast (Korean: 비스트). The band consists of four members: Yoon Doo-joon, Yang Yo-seob, Lee Gi-kwang, and Son Dong-woon. Originally a six-piece band, Jang Hyun-seung departed from the group in April 2016, and Yong Jun-hyung departed in March 2019. In late 2016, the group moved labels from Cube Entertainment to Around Us Entertainment and subsequently changed their name to Highlight in 2017. The group debuted in 2009 with the EP ''Beast Is the B2ST''. In 2011, they released their first full-length album, ''Fiction and Fact'', and made their Japanese debut with the single, " Shock". CNBLUE ( ko, 씨엔블루) is a South Korean pop rock band formed in 2009. The band consists of Jung Yong-hwa (leader, main vocals, guitar, keyboard, rap), Kang Min-hyuk ( drums), and Lee Jung-shin ( bass). First bassist Kwon Kwang-jin left the band after they released their debut Japanese extended play ''Now or Never'' in 2009, and was replaced by Lee Jung-shin. Yoo Dong-geun (born June 18, 1956) is a South Korean actor. He is best known for his leading roles in the historical television dramas ''Tears of the Dragon'', '' Empress Myseongseong'', and '' Yeon Gaesomun''. He was also an adjunct professor of at Daekyeung University in 1997. Since 2007, Yoo has been an activist of Sunfull Movement, a non-profit organization against cyberbullying. Girls' Generation (), also known as SNSD, is a South Korean girl group formed by SM Entertainment. Yang Hyun-suk (born January 9, 1970) is a South Korean music executive, rapper, dancer, songwriter, and record producer. He rose to fame as a member of Seo Taiji and Boys during the 1990s. After the group disbanded, he founded and became the Executive producer & Chairman of YG Entertainment, one of the biggest record companies in South Korea.
