Korean reunification () is the potential reunification of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Republic of Korea into a single Korean sovereign state. The process towards reunification was started by the June 15th North–South Joint Declaration in June 2000, and was reaffirmed by the Panmunjom Declaration, Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification of the Korean Peninsula in April 2018, and the joint statement of United States, U.S. President of the United States, President Donald Trump and the Democratic People's Republic of Korean Supreme Leader of North Korea, Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un at the 2018 North Korea–United States Singapore Summit, Singapore Summit in June 2018. In the Panmunjom Declaration, the two countries agreed to work towards a peaceful reunification of Korea in the future. The Korean Unification Flag is a flag designed to represent all of Korea when North Korea, North and South Korea participate as Korea Team, one team in sporting events. History North and South Korea initially planned to compete as one team at the 1990 Asian Games, and conceived the Korean Unification Flag amid logistical difficulties with raising two flags at once. While the unified team effort was not realized, the flag was prominently displayed by an unofficial cheerleading group during the Games. The flag was first officially used in 1991 when the two countries competed together as a single team in the 1991 World Table Tennis Championships, 41st World Table Tennis Championships in Chiba, Chiba, Chiba, Japan.
