Korea Airports Corporation
Korea Airports Corporation was established in 1980 in Seoul, South Korea to carry out construction, checks and balances, management and operation of airports and to manage air transportation efficiently. As an organization specializing in airport management, KAC manages and operates total of 14 airports in Korea including Gimpo, Gimhae, Jeju, Daegu, Muan, Cheongju, and Yangyang international airport. KAC also manages the Area Control Center, 10 VOR/TACs and Korea Civil Aviation Training Center. Its headquarters are on the property of Gimpo International Airport in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. Yangyang International Airport
Yangyang International Airport is a small international airport in northeastern South Korea. It is located in Yangyang County, Gangwon Province and was built to serve the nearby areas of Sokcho, Gangneung, and Pyeongchang. The airport replaced Gangneung and Sokcho airports. In 2011, 5,748 passengers used the airport. Air Koryo operated charters from Sondok Airport to Yangyang Airport during 2002–2006 for few months per year. Flights were halted indefinitely after relations soured between the two Koreas. Yangyang International Airport handled its last flight on 1 November 2008, according to thKorea Airport Corporation and there were calls for it to be sold off or closed. Muan International Airport () is an airport in Muan County, Jeollanam-do, South Korea. Construction of the airport began in 1997 and the airport opened on November 9, 2007. The airport serves the province of Jeollanam-do, especially the cities of Gwangju, Mokpo and Naju. Gimpo () is a city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. It borders Incheon, with which it shares the South Korean side of the Han River estuary, as well as Seoul and the lesser cities of Paju and Goyang. North Korea is across the Han River. Yangyang County (''Yangyang-gun'') is in Gangwon Province, South Korea. The county is located in the northeast of the country in Gangwon-do. Its population is about 31,000 (2004).
