Konstantinos Mourikis
Konstantinos Mourikis (born 11 July 1988, Marousi) is a Greek water polo player. He was part of the Greek team that won the bronze medal at the 2015 World Championship and the bronze medal at the 2016 World League and 2020 World League At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he competed for the Greece men's national water polo team in the men's event. He was a member of the team that competed for Greece at the 2016 Summer Olympics. They finished in 6th place. He plays for Greek powerhouse Olympiacos, with whom he won the 2017–18 LEN Champions League. . |
Marousi
Marousi or Maroussi ( el, Μαρούσι, also Αμαρούσιο ''Amarousio'') is a suburb in the northeastern part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. Marousi dates back to the era of the History of Athens, ancient Athenian Republic; its ancient name was Athmonon (Ἄθμονον) and it represented one of the 10 Athenian sub-cities. The area held a main ancient temple, where Amarysia Artemis, the goddess of hunting, was adored, and the city's modern name derives from that of the goddess, ''Amarysia'', which denotes the origin of the worship back in Amarynthos, Euboea. Geography Marousi is situated northeast of Athens city centre. The municipality has an area of 12.938 km2. The 2014–15 A1 Ethniki is the 84th season of the Greek premier Water polo league and the 29th of A1 Ethniki. The winner of the league was Olympiacos, which beat Panathinaikos in the league's playoff's finals. It was the first final of the eternal enemies in Water Polo Championship. The A1 Ethniki ( el, Α1 Εθνική Κατηγορία), often referred to as the Greek Water Polo League, is the highest professional water polo league in Greece. It is run by the Hellenic Swimming Federation. LEN Champions League
The LEN Champions League is the top-tier European professional water polo club competition with teams from up to 18 countries. It is organized by the Ligue Européenne de Natation. The competition started in 1963 as European Cup. A change of name and format occurred in 1996, with the competition being renamed Champions League and the final four system being established as the format of choice, for the first time during the 1996–97 LEN Champions League. From 2003 to 2011 the competition was named LEN Euroleague (with the change of name being simply a re-branding) and from 2011 and on LEN Champions League, its current name. LEN Champions League is the most popular water polo league in the European continent. It has been won by 24 clubs, 10 of which have won the title more than once.
