Konstantin Savitsky
Konstantin Apollonovich Savitsky (russian: Константи́н Аполло́нович Сави́цкий; 25 May 1844 — 31 January 1905) was a Russian realist painter born in the city of Taganrog in the village Frankovka or Baronovka, named after former governor Otto Pfeilizer-Frank. Today this area is occupied by the Taganrog Iron and Steel Factory TAGMET. Early life Savitsky's family lived in the building of the Taganrog Gymnasium for Boys, where his father worked as a doctor. In Frankovka the family rented a summer house. Savitsky spent his childhood and youth in Taganrog. He showed an interest for painting in early childhood. Being on the shore of Azov Sea with his parents, he loved to make sketches, and drawing lessons at the Gymnasium were his favorite subject. When Konstantin was fifth-grader at Taganrog Gymnasium, his teenager's life changed unexpectedly. Both of his parents died suddenly. Nikolai Karlovich Grandkovsky (Russian: Николай Карлович Грандковский; 23 February 1864, Saratov - 18 May 1907, Penza) was a Russian Realism (arts), Realist painter who specialized in portraits and Genre art, genre scenes. Biography He was born to Karl Mikhailovich Grandkovsky (1833-?), a college secretary, and his wife, Ekaterina Pavlovna Ilyina (1835-1873). The ''Morning in a Pine Forest'' (russian: Утро в сосновом лесу) is a painting by Russian artists Ivan Shishkin and Konstantin Savitsky. The bears were painted by Savitsky, but the art collector Pavel Tretyakov effaced his signature, stating that "from idea until performance, everything discloses the painting manner and creative method peculiar just to Shishkin", so the painting is now sometimes credited solely to Shishkin. The ''Morning in a Pine Forest'' became very popular, being reproduced on various items, including the "Clumsy Bear" chocolates by Krasny Oktyabr.
