Konrad Sasse
Konrad Sasse (3 October 1926 – 22 July 1981) was a German musicologist and Handel scholar. Life Sasse was born in Wernigerode. After completing his Abitur in 1946 at the Fürst-Otto-Gymnasium in Wernigerode in the Harz, he studied musicology among others with Max Schneider and Walther Siegmund-Schultze at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg from 1948 to 1954, which he completed with the Staatsexamen and obtained his doctorate with a thesis on Robert Franz (1962). The work was revised and edited by Edwin Werner in 1986. From 1954 to 1956, Sasse was secretary at the Handel Festival, Halle. From 1956 to 1981 he was director of the Handel House in Halle. Musicologist
Musicology (from Greek μουσική ''mousikē'' 'music' and -λογια ''-logia'', 'domain of study') is the scholarly analysis and research-based study of music. Musicology departments traditionally belong to the humanities, although some music research is scientific in focus (psychological, sociological, acoustical, neurological, computational). Some geographers and anthropologists have an interest in musicology so the social sciences also have an academic interest. A scholar who participates in musical research is a musicologist. Musicology traditionally is divided in three main branches: historical musicology, systematic musicology and ethnomusicology. Historical musicologists mostly study the history of the western classical music tradition, though the study of music history need not be limited to that. Dieter Hebig
Dieter Hebig (born 23 February 1957) is a German archivist and historian. Life Born in Heilbad Heiligenstadt, Hebig comes from the Thuringian region of Eichsfeld. After attending school, he completed a vocational training with a high school diploma as a mechanic for data processing and office machines. During this time, Hebig was already involved in voluntary work for the preservation of floors and monuments. After one year as a museum guide in Kloster Veßra, he studied archaeology and history for five years at the Humboldt-University of Berlin. He completed his studies in 1982 with Botho Brachmann as a graduate archivist. He then became a research assistant at the (State Archive Administration) at the Ministry of the Interior of the GDR in Potsdam. The Bezirk Halle was a district (''Bezirk'') of East Germany. The administrative seat and the main town was Halle. History The district was established, with the other 13, on 25 July 1952, substituting the old German states. The Handel Prize (german: Händel-Preis) is an annual award, instituted in 1956, which is presented by the city of Halle, in Germany, in honour of the celebrated Baroque composer George Frideric Handel. It is awarded, "for exceptional artistic, academic or politico-cultural services as far as these are connected with the city of Halle's Handel commemoration". Dessau
Dessau is a town and former municipality in Germany at the confluence of the rivers Mulde and Elbe, in the '' Bundesland'' (Federal State) of Saxony-Anhalt. Since 1 July 2007, it has been part of the newly created municipality of Dessau-Roßlau. Population of Dessau proper: 67,747 (Dec. 2020). Geography Dessau is situated on a floodplain where the Mulde flows into the Elbe. This causes yearly floods. The worst flood took place in the year 2002, when the Waldersee district was nearly completely flooded. The south of Dessau touches a well-wooded area called Mosigkauer Heide. The highest elevation is a 110 m high former rubbish dump called Scherbelberg in the southwest of Dessau.
