Tropical Storm Koni
Severe Tropical Storm Koni, known in the Philippines as Tropical Storm Gilas, caused moderate damage to areas of China and Vietnam in July 2003. The eighth tropical storm in the western Pacific that year, Koni originated from a disturbance situated within the monsoon trough well east of the Philippines on July 15. Tracking westward, intensification was slow and the system remained a tropical depression as it moved across the central Philippines on July 17. Upon moving into the South China Sea, however, conditions allowed for quicker strengthening, and as such the cyclone reached tropical storm status on July 18 before reaching its peak intensity with maximum sustained winds of and a minimum barometric pressure of 975 mbar (hPa; 28.79 inHg), making it a severe tropical storm. Koni Lui Wai Yee (; born 3 September 1982 in Hong Kong) is a model and 2nd runner up at the Miss Hong Kong 2006 pageant. She represented Hong Kong at Miss International 2006 in Tokyo, Japan and Beijing, China. She received two awards, Most Beautiful Smile and the Miss Friendship award. Koni Iguan (born 6 June 1969) is a Papua New Guinea politician. He has been a Pangu Party member of the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea since 2017, representing the Markham Open electorate. He formerly held the same seat from 2007 to 2012. He was first elected in the 2007 general election. In January 2010, he called the 2010 Papua New Guinea bus crash "the most horrific accident" ever witnessed and described it as "This is the nastiest and bloodiest of accidents on the highway". Fyodor Alexeyevich Koni (Фёдор Алексеевич Кони, 21 March 1809, Moscow, Russian Empire, - 6 February 1879, Saint Petersburg, Russian Empire) was a Russian dramatist, theatre critic and literary historian, editor and memoirist. Lawyer, author and politician Anatoly Koni (1844-1927) was Fyodor Koni's son. Biography A Moscow University'a alumni, Koni first came to attention in the 1830s as an author of vaudevilles (''The Hussar Girl'', ''Flats of Petersburg'', ''Husband in a Fireplace'', among them). In 1840 Koni founded and became the editor of the ''Pantheon'' magazine (which later merged with another publication and changed its name to ''Repertoire and Pantheon''). His epic monograph "The Life of Friedrich the Great" came out in 1863 and earned him a Doctor of Philosophy degree at the University of Jena. The Works of F. A. Anatoly Fedorovich Koni (Russian: Анато́лий Фёдорович Ко́ни; 9 February 1844 – 17 September 1927) was a Russian jurist, judge, politician and writer. He was the most politically influential jurist of the late Russian Empire and a leading Russian liberal. Anatoly Koni was the son of the noted dramatist Fyodor Koni. Among the public offices Koni held was prosecutor at the district court of Kharkiv since 1867, vice director of the Ministry of Justice since 1875, presiding judge of the district court of Saint Petersburg since 1878, and member of the State Council since 1907. He taught at the Imperial School of Law and at the University of Saint Petersburg. Abdulla Obaid Koni ( ar, عبد الله كوني; born on 19 July 1979) is a Qatari former professional footballer of Senegalese descent who played as a defender for Al Sadd and naturalized to represent the Qatar national team. Koni-class Frigate
The Koni class is the NATO reporting name for an anti-submarine warfare frigate built by the Soviet Union. They were known in the Soviet Union as Project 1159. 14 were built in Zelenodolsk shipyard between 1975 and 1988. They were originally intended to replace the older s, but were instead chosen as a design for export to various friendly navies. The Koni I sub class were designed for European waters and the Koni II were made for warmer waters. One ship was retained by the Soviets in the Black Sea for training foreign crews. Only a few of these vessels remain in service today. The Romanian Tetal-class corvettes were similar.
