Konak (İzmir Metro)
Konak is an underground station on the Fahrettin Altay—Evka 3 Line of the İzmir Metro in central Konak. Located just south of Konak Square, it is one of the ten original stations of the metro system. The architecture of the station consists of a main hall with a high ceiling, with mezzanines on both sides. The only other station to share this architecture is Çankaya. Connection to İzdeniz municipal ferries from Konak Terminal as well as ESHOT city bus service is available. Service began on 24 March 2018, connection to the Konak Tram also became possible via Konak İskele station. The northern mezzanine has exits to the Konak Ferry Terminal, Konak Square, while the southern mezzanine has exits to the Konak city bus stops, via an underpass beneath Halil Rıfat Paşa Avenue. İzmir Metro
İzmir Metro ( tr, İzmir Metrosu) is a metro system in İzmir, Turkey that is in the process of being extended with new stations being put in service. The current system, consisting of one line, starts from Fahrettin Altay station Göztepe in the southern portion of the metropolitan area and runs towards northeast to end at Evka-3 in Bornova. İzmir's metro line is long, and serves 17 stations as of 26 July 2014. Overview By 1990, it was thought that the existing public transport system in Izmir could no longer support the growing population. A plan was thought of to build a rapid transit network by rail to cope with this. A contract was signed in 1993, and the handover was in 1994. Construction had begun in 1995 and it was completed successfully in around 4 years. In May 2000, the system came into public service. Konak Tram ( tr, Konak Tramvayı) is a urban light rail transit (LRT) system in Konak district of Izmir, Turkey and is one of the two lines of Tram İzmir. The line serves 19 stations and began operating on 24 April 2018. The tram line runs between Fahrettin Altay Square, Konak and Halkapınar. It is part of the Karşıyaka and Konak Tram project of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, which cost nearly 450 million (approx. US$120 million). The Konak tram is operated by the İzmir Metro. The Izmir Archaeology Museum ( tr, İzmir Arkeoloji Müzesi) is an archeology museum in Izmir, Turkey, containing a number of artifacts from around the Gulf of Izmir. Yalı Mosque
Konak Mosque ( tr, Konak Camii), also called Yalı Mosque, is a mosque in İzmir, Turkey. It is located on Konak Square in the heart of the city next to the Governor's Mansion and the İzmir Clock Tower. Despite its relatively small size, it is considered one of the landmarks of the city for its distinctive octagonal shape and elaborate tilework. The Mosque was constructed in 1755 under the patronage of Ayşe Hanım, the wife of Katibzade Mehmed Pasha who governed İzmir at the time. The outer tiles were brought from Kütahya. It has a single dome and minaret and unusually for a mosque, only one entrance. The interior is lit by a chandelier by Ümran Baradan.
