Jan Koller (; born 30 March 1973) is a Czech former professional footballer who played as a striker. He was noted for his height, strong physique, and heading ability. He began his career at Sparta Prague, then moved to Belgium, where he became the Belgian First Division top scorer with Lokeren. He won the league championship twice with Anderlecht and the Belgian Golden Shoe. In 2001, he joined Borussia Dortmund, where he won the Bundesliga title in his first season and scored 73 goals in 167 official games over five campaigns. Alice Koller (September 13, 1925 – July 21, 2020) was an American writer and academic. Childhood and education Alice Koller was born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio on September 13, 1925. Her father Andrew R. Koller was a plumbing salesman who later owned a plumbing supply store in Akron, Ohio, where she grew up. Her mother Sarah L. Koller was a housewife. She had an older brother, Kenneth, and a younger sister, Muriel. After graduating as her class Valedictorian from Buchtel High School in 1943, she worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for a year, then moved to Chicago to attend drama classes at the Goodman Theatre school of drama. She was a professor in the department of computer science at Stanford University and a MacArthur Foundation fellowship recipient. She is one of the founders of Coursera, an online education platform. Ben Koller (born July 29, 1980) is an American drummer who has played with Converge, Mutoid Man, Killer Be Killed and All Pigs Must Die. He started playing a full drum kit at age 14. Musical career Early bands (1997–1999) Koller played in the bands Where's Ben? and Bastian, before playing in the grindcore band Force Fed Glass. He started playing for the band in 1997. Jenny Thomann-Koller (14 September 1866 - 5 February 1949) was a gynecologist, pediatrician, and Head of Internal Medicine at the ''Schweizerische Pflegerinnenschule mit Spital'' (Swiss Nursing School with Hospital) in Zurich. David Koller (born 27 September 1960) is a Czech musician and record producer. Career Music Koller started his career in the early 1980s as the drummer of Jasná Páka and has also played in various other bands, including Žentour, Pusa, and Blue Effect. Karl Koller (22 February 1898 – 22 December 1951) was a German ''General der Flieger'' and the Chief of the General Staff of Nazi Germany's Luftwaffe during World War II. Early life Koller was born in Glonn in Bavaria. He enlisted in the army in 1914 and, after infantry service, transferred to aviation. He passed pilot training in 1916, flew in observation and fighter squadrons and was captured by the British in May 1918. After his release in 1919, he served in various police capacities and shifted to the Luftwaffe in 1935. An exemplary officer, he in 1936 graduated valedictorian at the Air War Academy. Alexander von Koller (3 June 1813 – 29 May 1890) was an Austro-Hungarian military officer, who achieved the rank of General of the cavalry and served as Imperial and Royal Minister of War from 1874 to 1876. Sick of It All is an American hardcore punk band formed in 1986 in Queens, New York City. The band's lineup consists of brothers Lou and Pete Koller on lead vocals and guitars respectively, Armand Majidi on drums, and Craig Setari on bass. Sick of It All is considered a major part of the New York hardcore scene, and by 2020, the band had sold at least half a million records worldwide. Though their 1989 debut album ''Blood, Sweat and No Tears'' was a moderate success, Sick of It All did not achieve commercial success until later albums. Karl Koller (December 3, 1857 – March 21, 1944) was an Austrian ophthalmologist who began his medical career as a surgeon at the Vienna General Hospital and a colleague of Sigmund Freud. Koller introduced cocaine as a local anaesthetic for eye surgery. Prior to this discovery, he had tested solutions such as chloral hydrate and morphine as anaesthetics in the eyes of laboratory animals without success. Freud was fully aware of the pain-killing properties of cocaine, but Koller recognized its tissue-numbing capabilities, and in 1884 demonstrated its potential as a local anaesthetic to the medical community. Koller's findings were a medical breakthrough. Prior to his discovery, performing eye surgery was difficult because the involuntary reflex motions of the eye to respond to the slightest stimuli. James Koller (May 30, 1936 – December 10, 2014) was an American poet. He spent his early life in northern Illinois, and the 1960s on the Pacific Coast. In the early-1970s he moved to Maine, where he lived until his death while traveling across the US. Koller is the author of more than thirty books of poetry.
