Kolkata Book Fair
The International Kolkata Book Fair (formerly Calcutta Book Fair) is a winter fair in Kolkata. It is a unique book fair in the sense of not being a trade fair—the book fair is primarily for the general public rather than whole-sale distributors. It is the world's largest non-trade book fair, Asia's largest book fair and the most attended book fair. It is the world's third-largest annual conglomeration of books after the Frankfurt Book Fair and the London Book Fair. Many Kolkatans consider the book fair an inherent part of Kolkata, and instances of people visiting the fair every day during its duration are not uncommon. The fair offers a typical fairground experience with a book flavour—with picnickers, singer-songwriters, and candy floss vendors. With a total footfall of over 2 million people, it is world's largest book fair by attendance. Central Park (Kolkata)
Central Park situated in Bidhannagar, Salt Lake is a public urban park. It is also known as ''Banabitan''. It is the second largest open space in Kolkata Metropolitan Area after the Maidan (Kolkata), Maidan. It is a favorite hangout for lovers. This park is easily reachable from the Karunamoyee Bus Terminus in Bidhannagar, Salt Lake. Central Park metro station and depot of Kolkata Metro Line 2 are located here. On the roads surrounding the park are the buildings where the West Bengal government has relocated many government departments. The park is built around an expansive water body. There is a bridge which connects on side of the lake to an island which has a pagoda. The lake serves as a haven for water birds like lesser whistling duck, common moorhen, white-breasted waterhen, rufous treepie, cattle egret, cormorants and other species. Eastern Metropolitan Bypass
The Eastern Metropolitan Bypass (known simply as both ''E.M. Bypass'' and ''EM Bypass'') is a (Including Kamalgazi to Baruipur extension) major road on the east side of Kolkata. It connects Ultadanga (North Kolkata) to Baruipur Puratan Bazar (South Kolkata). The road is a major link to Salt Lake and New Town. EM Bypass is part of both State Highway 1 and State Highway 3. Much high-end construction and development in Kolkata has been centred around the Bypass. It was designed as a six to eight-lane bypass to lessen traffic congestion on the entire stretch of Gariahat Road. Several consequent connections have been made to Gariahat Road to further move traffic to the Bypass. Science City Kolkata
Science City Kolkata is the largest science centre in Asia. It is managed by National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India. It is located at the crossing of Eastern Metropolitan Bypass and J. B. S. Haldane Avenue (Parama Island) in East Topsia. Saroj Ghose, the first director general of NCSM, is credited with having conceptualised this centre in 1997. This centre was inaugurated by two parts: the ‘Convention Centre Complex’ was unveiled on 21 December 1996 by Paul Jozef Crutzen in presence of the then chief minister Jyoti Basu and the whole centre was opened by the then prime minister Inder Kumar Gujral on 1 July 1997. Milan Mela
Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan (commonly known as Milan Mela Prangan) is the primary exhibition and convention centre for Kolkata, India. With of exhibition space, it is the largest exhibition centre in Kolkata. The complex is owned and managed by the West Bengal Trade Promotion Organisation (WBTPO), Government of West Bengal. The WBTPO is an initiative by the state's Commerce & Industries department with the prime objective to promote trade, commerce and business opportunities for West Bengal. The idea was then germinated by West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) and Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) and they jointly formed the WBTPO. Saraswati
Saraswati ( sa, सरस्वती, ) is the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, art, speech, wisdom, and learning. She is one of the Tridevi, along with the goddesses Lakshmi and Parvati. The earliest known mention of Saraswati as a goddess is in the Rigveda. She has remained significant as a goddess from the Vedic period through the modern period of Hindu traditions. She is generally shown to have four arms, holding a book, a rosary, a water pot, and a musical instrument called the veena. Each of these items have a symbolic meaning in Hinduism.
