Kobi Onyame
Kobi Onyame (born Kwame Barfour-Osei) is an independent recording hip-hop artist, producer and songwriter based in the United Kingdom. His albums ''Gold'' and ''Don't Drink the Poison'' were shortlisted for the Scottish Album of the Year Award in 2018 and 2022 respectively. Biography Onyame was born in Ghana and grew up in Accra. He then moved to the UK, living in London, later moving to Glasgow to study for his master's degree at the University of Strathclyde. His mother died in 2008. His work draws on his Ghanaian heritage, mixed with contemporary hip-hop. Early in his career, he released work under the name Jae P. Career Onyame's fourth album ''Gold'' was nominated for the Scottish Album of the Year in 2018, where it was described as "an almost wistful echo of a yearning for home and originality that somehow has its roots in the past and present simultaneously." The Great Escape Festival
The Great Escape Festival is a three-day music festival held in Brighton and Hove, England every year in May. It is operated by MAMA Festivals and showcases new music from a variety of genres. The festival was founded in 2006 and roughly hosts 300 bands across 30 venues throughout the city. It has been likened to South by Southwest. There is also a music industry convention section to the event, which is attended by over 3000 delegates. Paul "Jayso" Nuamah Donkor (born June 1, 1983) is a Ghanaian rapper, record producer, singer, songwriter and entrepreneur. After 10 years in the music industry as a rapper and producer, Jayso gained more attention following his work on Sarkodie's second single, Borga, which featured on his debut album, Maakye. Jayso produced over 70 percent of the songs on that album which also shot him into the limelight. Rodric Iwan Pryce Jones (born 3 December 1976) is a British guitarist, singer and songwriter. He is best known as a founding member of Scottish indie rock band Idlewild, with whom he has co-written and recorded six studio albums. Jones has released two solo albums and also currently fronts rock band The Birthday Suit. He is also a co-creator of the ongoing musical project, The Fruit Tree Foundation. Modern Studies is a chamber pop band based between Scotland and Lancashire. The group has released four studio albums and a remix collaboration, all on Fire Records. History The band was founded in 2015 by Emily Scott, who had been writing songs on an antique harmonium in her home in Glasgow. She arranged to give the instrument to a friend, Pete Harvey, who owned a recording studio called Pumpkinfield in Perthshire, and together they began working on Scott's material with drummer Joe Smillie and multi-instrumentalist Rob St. John. Their debut studio album, ''Swell to Great'', was issued by Song, by Toad Records in 2016 and then reissued worldwide by Fire Records in October 2017.
