Koalicja Otwartej Edukacji
Coalition for Open Education (Koalicja Otwartej Edukacji, KOED) - is a coalition of institutions supporting and developing Open Educational Resources (OER) in Poland. Coalition was formed on 27 November 2008 by , ICM UW/ Creative Commons Polska, Fundacja Nowoczesna Polska and Wikimedia Polska. The conference "Open Educational Resources in Poland", organized by KOED in the Polish Parliament on 23 April 2009 was the first major OER event of this kind. From 2009 Coalition is an organizer of Public Domain Day in Poland, event widely covered in mainstream media. Wikimedia Polska (WMPL; pl, Stowarzyszenie Wikimedia Polska) is a Polish public benefit organization established to support volunteers in Poland who work on Wikimedia projects such as Wikipedia. As such, it is a Wikimedia chapter approved by the Wikimedia Foundation which owns and hosts those projects. Wikimedia Polska was started in April 2005 by a group of Polish Wikipedians at Meta-Wiki. In August of that year 26 first members gathered at a wiki meetup in Kraków to elect the board members and vote on the statute of the new association. It was officially registered on 15 November 2005. On 28 March 2007 Wikimedia Polska was officially inscribed on the list of public benefit organizations held by the Polish Ministry of Justice. Open access scholarly communication of Poland can be searched via the "CeON Aggregator" of the University of Warsaw Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling's Centre for Open Science. Repositories As of March 2018, the UK-based Directory of Open Access Repositories lists some 91 repositories in Poland. However, according to the OpenAIRE project, "the majority of these are digital libraries, providing access to the digitized content of library collections, not functioning as repositories open to authors for the deposition of their own work."
