Knuckey Lagoon is an outer suburban area in Darwin. It is east of the Darwin CBD. Its Local Government Area is the Litchfield Municipality. Richard Randall Knuckey
Richard Randall Knuckey (26 September 1842 – 14 June 1914), often referred to as R.R. Knuckey and popularly known as Dick Knuckey, was a surveyor on the Overland Telegraph Line in central Australia from 1871 to 1872. He later became chief officer at the electric telegraph department in Adelaide. Early life Randall was born in Stithians, in Cornwall, England, on 26 September 1842, of parents Richard Knuckey and Persis Reed. He arrived in South Australia with his family in 1849 as a six-year-old, and was educated at Burra and Kapunda. Career In 1866 he joined the survey department as a chainman, was soon appointed cadet and thereafter rose up through the ranks. Engaged by George Goyder as a second-class surveyor in 1868, he joined Goyder's expedition to the Northern Territory to survey Darwin and the surrounding country, the party arriving in Port Darwin on 5 February 1869. George Goyder
George Woodroffe Goyder (24 June 1826 – 2 November 1898) was a surveyor in the Colony of South Australia during the latter half of the nineteenth century. He rose rapidly in the civil service, becoming Assistant Surveyor-General by 1856 and the Surveyor General of South Australia in 1861. He is remembered today for Goyder's Line of rainfall, a line used in South Australia to demarcate land climatically suitable for arable farming from that suitable only for light grazing, and for the siting, planning and initial development of Darwin, the Northern Territory capital and principal population centre. However, Goyder was an avid researcher into the lands of South Australia (including the present-day Northern Territory) and made recommendations to a great number of settlers in the newly developing colony, especially to those exploiting the newly discovered mineral resources of the state. The Litchfield Council is a local government area of the Northern Territory of Australia on the eastern and southeastern outskirts of the Darwin-Palmerston urban area. Holtze, Northern Territory
Holtze is a locality of Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. It is 22 km southeast of the Darwin CBD. Its local government area is the Municipality of Litchfield. The locality is mostly a rural area, just north Palmerston. It may have been named for Maurice William Holtze (1840–1923), the botanist who established Darwin's Botanical Gardens, or his son Nicholas, who succeeded him as curator. In September 2010, the Northern Territory Government announced that new Darwin’s prison precinct, Doug Owston Correctional Centre, would be built in Holtze about four kilometres north of Howard Springs Road. Electoral Division Of Nelson (Northern Territory)
Nelson is an electoral division of the Legislative Assembly in Australia's Northern Territory. It was first created in 1990 as a replacement for Koolpinyah, and was named after Harold Nelson, the first member for the federal Northern Territory electorate. Nelson is a largely rural electorate, covering 1,415 km² and taking in the small towns of Howard Springs, McMinn's Lagoon and part of Humpty Doo, and some areas between Darwin and Palmerston. There were 5,505 people enrolled in the electorate as of August 2020. Micket Creek, Northern Territory
__NOTOC__ Micket Creek is a locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located about east of the territory capital of Darwin. Micket Creek consists of land located on the south coast of Shoal Bay. It is named after Micket Creek, which is a stream flowing through the locality into Shoal Bay and whose name first appears in 1869 in the records associated with the survey of what is now the Darwin hinterland overseen by George Goyder, the Surveyor-General of South Australia. Its boundaries and name were gazetted on 29 October 1997.
