Knol
Knol was a Google project that aimed to include user-written articles on a range of topics. The lower-case term ''knol'', which Google defined as a "unit of knowledge", referred to an article in the project. Knol was often viewed as a rival to Wikipedia. The project was led by Udi Manber, a Google vice president of engineering. It was announced on December 13, 2007, and was opened in beta version on July 23, 2008, with a few hundred articles, mostly in the health and medical field. Knol did not find a significant audience and became viewed as a failure. The project was closed on April 30, 2012, and all content was deleted after October 1, 2012. The Internet Archive has snapshots of Knol archived between July 2008 and May 2012. KNOL (FM)
KNOL (107.5 FM), branded as "K-Love", is a contemporary Christian formatted non-commercial radio station serving the New Orleans metropolitan area. The station is owned by Educational Media Foundation and broadcasts at 107.5 MHz with an ERP of 15 kW from Jean Lafitte, Louisiana. History Although KNOL has been a country music formatted station for most of its existence under the call letters KCIL, the station was a Rhythmic Top 40 as "Hot 107" in the late 1980s. In 2007, KCIL filed with the FCC to move its city of license to Jean Lafitte, in order to better serve New Orleans. The change was approved in May 2007. On May 2, 2011, KCIL changed its call letters to KXMG. On July 1, 2011, KXMG changed its format to Spanish Contemporary Hit Radio, branded as "Mega 107.5". Monique Knol (born 31 March 1964 in Wolvega, Friesland) is a former racing cyclist from the Netherlands, who won a medal in two consecutive Summer Olympics (gold and bronze), starting in 1988 in Seoul, South Korea. Ruud Knol (born 13 March 1981) is a Dutch former professional association football, footballer who played as a Defender (association football)#Centre-back, centre back. Club career Knol was born in Zevenaar, in the province of Gelderland and started his career at OBW Zevenaar, where he was spotted by Vitesse Arnhem scouts. Knol made his debut in professional football, being part of the Vitesse squad in the 2000–01 season. He played six years for Vitesse and was called up once by then Dutch coach Louis van Gaal for the Netherlands national football team. A serious injury threatened his career between 2002 and 2005 but he came back to play for Vitesse. Tim Knol (born 12 September 1989 in Hoorn) is a Dutch singer-songwriter. Biography Knol was born and raised in Hoorn, where he started making music at the age of 10. Locally, he made an impression with the band ''Be Right Back'' in which he sang and played guitar. While playing in that band, he also worked on various side projects and recorded a couple of solo tracks. In May 2008 he played at ''De avond van het kippenvel'' in Utrecht, where he came in contact with Anne Soldaat, formerly of Daryll-Ann. Together they recorded some demos for Excelsior Recordings. In May 2009 he decided to quit his band, and start a solo career.
