Knockout (UK Comics)
''Knockout'' may refer to one of two British comics. The original series, published by the Amalgamated Press (later Fleetway Publications), started on 4 March 1939 and ended on 16 February 1963, when it merged with '' Valiant''. The second series, published by IPC Magazines, ran from 12 June 1971 to 23 June 1973, when it merged with ''Whizzer and Chips''. First series The first series, titled ''Knockout Comics'', was launched by editor Percy Clarke and sub-editor Leonard Matthews in 1939 to compete with ''The Dandy'' and ''The Beano'' (launched by DC Thomson in 1937 and 1938 respectively). Like its rivals, it featured a mixture of humour and adventure strips and illustrated prose stories. Knockout is a fictional character, a supervillainess in the DC Comics universe. She first appeared in ''Superboy'' (vol. 4) #1 (February 1994), and was created by Karl Kesel and Tom Grummett. A former Female Fury warrior from the hellish planet Apokolips like Big Barda, Knockout also escaped to Earth. Though while Barda became a superheroine, Knockout became a supervillainess. She later joined the Secret Six team, which committed actions more as antiheroes. Fictional character biography ''Superboy'' (vol. 4) Knockout first appeared shortly after Superboy (Kon-El) moved to Hawaii. Using her superstrength, she fought and flirted with Superboy just for the fun of it. Her hidden identity was that of a super strong stripper who worked at a club called the BoomBoom Room. Femme Fatales (comics)
The Femme Fatales are a fictional group of female characters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. They are often depicted as antagonists to the superhero character Spider-Man and Captain America. Fictional team history The Femme Fatales are villains and mutants that serve as mercenaries for hire. Group members Bloodlust and Whiplash have a history of working together prior to joining the Femme Fatales, as members of a previous group called the Band of Baddies. They were hired by fellow villain the Chameleon in the disguise of Dr. Turner to threaten an ambassador. Spider-Man intervened and saved the ambassador, making him an enemy of the Femme Fatales.
