Knightmare (roller Coaster)
Knightmare was a custom roller coaster at the now defunct Camelot Theme Park in Chorley, Lancashire, United Kingdom. It was built by Zierer and designed by Anton Schwarzkopf. History It was originally built in 1987 for a theme park in Kobe, Japan called ''Portopialand'' (now defunct) under the name ''BMRX'/'Bavarian Mountain Railroad'', and was a dark indoor ride with a huge mountain themed structure surrounding it. After Portopialand closed in March 2006, the roller coaster was acquired by Camelot theme park and was dismantled and shipped to the United Kingdom. It cost the park £3 million to build the roller coaster. The track and trains arrived at Camelot at the end of 2006, without the mountain structure that initially enclosed it. Anton Schwarzkopf
Anton Schwarzkopf (8 July 1924 – 30 July 2001) was a German engineer who founded Schwarzkopf Industries GmbH, a German manufacturer of roller coasters and other amusement rides that were sold to amusement parks and travelling funfairs around the world. Early years Anton Schwarzkopf, born in Bahlingen, Germany, began as an apprentice in his father's business, which focused on the design of specialised trailers used to transport circus equipment. By 1954, his father's company had transitioned into creating amusement rides. Career In 1957, Schwarzkopf built his first attraction, the Düsenspirale, which was a roller coaster that traveled around Germany with funfair showman Löffelhardt. Camelot Theme Park
Camelot Theme Park was a resort and theme park located in the English county of Lancashire. The park's theme was the well-known legend of Camelot, and the park decor incorporated pseudo-medieval elements. It was located on a site near the village of Charnock Richard, west of Chorley. The site was owned by The Story Group and was operated by Knights Leisure. The park featured many rides, taking a target audience of families and younger children; however, the park also boasted numerous thrill rides and roller coasters, including Whirlwind (a Maurer Söhne spinning coaster), Knightmare and Excalibur. On 4 November 2012, Knight’s Leisure announced that they would not be reopening for the season of 2013. Zierer Karussell- und Spezialmaschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG (Short name: Zierer ) is a German company located close to Deggendorf. Zierer manufactures Tivoli and Force line of roller coasters, as well as panoramic wheels, wave swingers, flying carpets, ''Hexentanz'', and ''Kontiki'' rides. Jetline is a roller coaster at Gröna Lund in Stockholm, Sweden. It has gained worldwide recognition for its curved lift hill, an anomaly amongst roller coasters. It opened in April 1988 as a clone of the Knightmare roller coaster at Camelot Theme Park, England. In 1997 it was modified by Maurer Söhne to have a longer and steeper first drop, adding a tunnel at the bottom of the first drop. Gröna Lund (; "Green Grove"), or colloquially ''Grönan'' (), is an amusement park in Stockholm, Sweden. Located on the seaward side of Djurgården Island, it is relatively small compared to other amusement parks, mainly because of its central location, which limits expansion. Lisebergbanan
Lisebergbanan is a steel roller coaster at the Liseberg amusement park in Gothenburg, Sweden. It opened in 1987. The ride's name literally means "Liseberg rail line" and the station is themed to a railway station. A themed restaurant was later opened under Lisebergbanan's station with a similar theme, allowing guests to dine inside replica freight and passenger carriage compartments.
