Johann Christoph Friedrich Klug
Johann Christoph Friedrich Klug (5 May 1775, in Berlin – 3 February 1856, in Berlin), was a German entomologist. He described the butterflies and some other insects of Upper Egypt and Arabia in Christian Gottfried Ehrenberg and Wilhelm Friedrich Hemprich's ''Symbolæ Physicæ'' (Berlin, 1829–1845). He was professor of medicine and entomology in the University of Berlin (known in the present day as the Humboldt University of Berlin) where he curated the insect collections from 1810 to 1856. At the same time he directed the Botanic Garden in Berlin which contains his collections. Klug worked mainly on Hymenoptera and Coleoptera. The plant genus '' Klugia'' (now called '' Rhynchoglossum'', Family Gesneriaceae) was named in his honour as well as the butterflies ''Geitoneura klugii'' and '' Heliophisma klugii''. Bernd Klug (12 December 1914 – 15 June 1975) was an admiral in the West German Navy. During World War II, he served in the Kriegsmarine and was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves of Nazi Germany. Career Klug joined Nazi Germany's Reichsmarine on 1 April 1933. He received his training aboard the school ship SSS ''Gorch Fock'' and the light cruiser ''Karlsruhe''.Dörr 1995, p. 339. Aaron Klug
Sir Aaron Klug (11 August 1926 – 20 November 2018) was a British biophysicist and chemist. He was a winner of the 1982 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his development of crystallographic electron microscopy and his structural elucidation of biologically important nucleic acid-protein complexes. Early life and education Klug was born in Želva, in Lithuania, to Jewish parents Lazar, a cattleman, and Bella (née Silin) Klug, with whom he moved to South Africa at the age of two. He was educated at Durban High School. Paul de Kruif's 1926 book, '' Microbe Hunters'', aroused his interest in microbiology. Howard Klug is an American clarinetist and university professor. Performance career Howard Klug has been a chamber musician, soloist, and clinician throughout the United States, Great Britain, Belgium, Portugal, Austria, Venezuela, China and Israel. A former member of the U.S. Air Force Band in Washington, D.C., where he soloed on flute, clarinet and saxophone, Klug has also been principal clarinet of the Fresno Philharmonic, Bear Valley Festival Orchestra, Sinfonia da Camera and the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. He has also been a member of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the Grant Park Symphony. Chamber music affiliations have included the Illinois Trio, the Illinois Woodwind Quintet, the Chicago Ensemble and Trio Indiana. Bryan Paul Klug (born 8 October 1960) is an English former professional footballer and coach. He is currently the Head of Coaching and Player Development at the Ipswich Town Academy. Playing career Born in Coventry, Klug began his football career as an apprentice with Ipswich Town. He joined Wimbledon on loan in March 1980 and made his Football League debut with them, although after returning to Ipswich in July 1980, he still did not make a first team appearance. Therefore, in August 1983 he moved to Chesterfield, finishing his Football League career with Peterborough United, before moving to non-league with Chelmsford City. Klug played in the FA Vase final for Sudbury Town vs Tamworth in 1989, crossing for Dave Hubbick to head home after 7 minutes. The match ended 1–1. John Klug
John Klug (born 28 September 1965) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Klug, from Glenorchy Football Club in Tasmania, was initially recruited by Victorian Football League (VFL) club Richmond but was unable to break into Richmond's league side. Klug then moved to Adelaide to play for Woodville Football Club in the South Australian Football League (SANFL) and was recruited by the Adelaide Crows for the initial squad in 1991. In the Crows' first year Klug played at Centre Half Forward, although slightly built and against much bigger opponents for most of the season Klug performed well and finished eighth in the Crows' Best and Fairest that year. Gerald Klug (born 13 November 1968) is an Austrian jurist and politician who served as minister of transport, innovation and technology in 2016. A member of the Social Democratic Party, he previously served as minister of defence and sports from 2013 to 2016. Early life and education Klug was born in Graz on 13 November 1968. After graduating from technical college in Graz and vocational school he served in the Austrian army from 1987 to 1988. He received a law degree from Karl-Franzens University in 2001. Chris Klug
Chris Klug (born November 18, 1972) is a professional alpine snowboarder. After receiving a liver transplant in 2000 to treat primary sclerosing cholangitis, he went on to compete in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, winning a bronze medal in the Parallel Giant Slalom. This was the first and so far only time a transplantee had competed in the Olympics, either winter or summer. He also won a bronze medal, and lit the torch at the 2002 National Kidney Foundation U.S. Transplant Games. He is an alumnus of Deerfield Academy. In 2004, Klug released a book called ''To the Edge and Back: My Story from Organ Transplant Survivor to Olympic Snowboarder''. Gerard Christopher Klug is an American game designer who has worked primarily on role-playing games. Career Trained as a theatrical lighting designer, Gerry (Chris) Klug worked on Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional theater, opera, and toured with various 1970s rock bands. He won two New Jersey Critic's Circle Awards for lighting designs at the New Jersey Theater Forum. Klug then began writing adventures for Simulations Publications's line of role-playing games.
