Klipvoor Dam
Klipvoor Dam is a concrete gravity type dam located on the Moretele River, 55 km north of Brits, North West, South Africa. It was established in 1970. The main purpose of the dam is to serve for irrigation and its hazard potential has been ranked as high (3). The Klipvoor Dam is one of the good fishing spots of the Borakalalo Game Reserve, located north of the dam. Moretele River
The Pienaars River is a river in South Africa. It is a tributary of the Crocodile River. A short section of this river is known as the Moretele River (i.e. approximately 20 km section between Haakdoornbult and the Klipvoor Dam). Tributaries of the Pienaars River include the Moreletaspruit (alternative spellings: Morelettaspruit, Moreleta Spruit). Note that the above-mentioned Moretele river section is 60 km away from the Moreletaspruit and these two should not be confused with one another. Course It originates east of Pretoria, City of Tshwane, Gauteng Province, flowing northwards into Roodeplaat Dam (north of Mamelodi), which is also fed by the Hartbeesspruit and its tributary, the Moreletaspruit. Brits, North West
Brits () is a town situated in a fertile citrus, vegetable and grain-producing area that is irrigated by the waters of the Hartbeespoort Dam in North West Province of South Africa. It is close to the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality in Gauteng, which includes Pretoria, and it has the same dialling code as Pretoria. In addition to being a centre for agriculture, the city is home to several heavy industries. A factory of the Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo produced cars for the domestic market and export to Asia from 1974 to 1985. The Department of Water and Sanitation is one of the departments of the South African government. It is responsible for the state of water and sanitation in South Africa. Borakalalo Game Reserve
The Borakalalo Game Reserve is a protected area in North West Province, South Africa. It is located about 80 kilometres NNW of Pretoria and 60 km north of Brits. This majestic Nature reserve has unfortunately been hampered by numerous safety problems, especially affecting overnight visitors to the reserve. Also known as a fantastic birding destination with specials including African Finfoot, Meyer's Parrot and Grey-Headed Kingfisher. Characteristics The reserve covers an area of about 13,000 hectares. The protected area is situated around the Klipvoor Dam and the Moretele River. The park consists of woodland and open bushveld vegetation. The nearest bank is at Letlhabile, about 45 km south of the Reserve. There is a shop at the gate of the park selling basic goods.
