Jacob Klapwijk
Jacob Klapwijk (24 October 1933 – 19 March 2021) was a Dutch philosopher, and Emeritus Professor of Modern and Systematic Philosophy at the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, known for his work on Ernst Troeltsch and historicism, Reformational thinking, the transformational task of Christian philosophy, and the theory of emergent evolution. Biography Born in Dronrijp, Klapwijk started to study Philosophy and Theology in 1952 at the Vrije Universiteit (VU University), where he received his MA in 1961. For many years he was research assistant to one of the founding fathers of reformational philosophy, D. H. Th. Vollenhoven. In 1970 he received his PhD in Philosophy with a thesis entitled "Between Historicism and Relativism", under supervision of Vollenhoven's colleague S. U. Zuidema. After his graduation in the early 1960s Klapwijk became lector in Logic at the Vrije Universiteit. Philip Klapwijk (born 1962) is an economist in precious metals commodities markets. After studies at the London School of Economics and the College of Europe in Bruges where he obtained degrees in economics, he started work as an analyst with Gold Fields Mineral Services (now GFMS). Following the management buyout of GFMS in 1988 with Paul Walker and Hester le Roux he became Executive Chairman and Global Head of Metals Analytics. In 2011 GFMS became part of Thomson Reuters. After leaving GFMS Philip Klapwijk became Managing Director of Precious Metals Insights Limited, a Hong Kong based precious metals consultancy company. Geertruida "Truus" Klapwijk (2 January 1904 – 3 May 1991) was a Dutch diver and freestyle swimmer who competed in the 1924 Summer Olympics and in the 1928 Summer Olympics.
