Kizumonogatari
is a Japanese anime film trilogy directed by Akiyuki Shinbo and Tatsuya Oishi and produced by Shaft. Together, the films are an adaptation of the 2008 light novel of the same name, which is the second entry in the ''Monogatari'' series written by Nisio Isin and a prequel to the first, ''Bakemonogatari''. The first film, , was released in Japanese theaters in January 2016. The second film, , was released in August 2016, and the third and the final film, , was released in January 2017. Plot ''Tekketsu'' Koyomi Araragi, a second year high school student at Naoetsu High School, befriends Tsubasa Hanekawa, the top honors student at his school. Tsubasa mentions a rumor about a "blonde vampire" that has been sighted around their town recently. Koyomi, who is usually anti-social, takes a liking to Tsubasa's down-to-earth personality. Tatsuya Oishi (director)
is a Japanese director, animator, and storyboard artist. Oishi began his career at Studio Junio as an animator, but gained fame for his work with fellow directors Akiyuki Shinbo and Shin Oonuma at studio Shaft (company), Shaft, where he directed the ''Monogatari (series), Bakemonogatari'' television series and its prequel film trilogy ''Kizumonogatari''. Career Oishi began working for sub-contracting company Studio Junio in 1991, where he mostly acted as an in-between animator and key animator. Within at least two years, however, he moved to Gainax, where he mainly worked as a sub-contractor for studios like Sunrise (company), Sunrise. Monogatari (series)
is a Japanese light novel series written by Nisio Isin and illustrated by Vofan. The plot centers on Koyomi Araragi, a third-year high school student who survives a vampire attack and finds himself helping girls involved with a variety of apparitions, deities, ghosts, beasts, spirits, and other supernatural phenomena, which often serve as proxies for their emotional and mental issues. Between November 2006 and August 2021, Kodansha published 28 volumes in the series under its Kodansha Box imprint. All of the series' story arcs share the common title suffix . Mitsutoshi Kubota
is Japanese painter, color designer, producer, and the current president of Shaft. Career Kubota began his career in the anime industry as a cel painter for the 1981 film ''Furiten-kun'' as a sub-contractor with painting studio Shaft, which had been founded in 1975 by Hiroshi Wakao.
