Kivett Hall
Kivett Hall is the oldest building on the campus of Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina. The building has long served as the icon of the university and was noted for its bell tower that chimed every quarter-hour. The bell tower does not chime anymore, due to it being moved to Butler Chapel. History The need for Kivett Hall arose after most of the buildings on the campus of Buies Creek Academy, the forerunner of Campbell University, located in Buies Creek, North Carolina, were destroyed by fire. Founded by the Reverend James Archibald Campbell in 1887, the academy grew and eventually consisted of several buildings, all constructed of wood. On Wednesday night December 20, 1900, a fire destroyed many buildings, including the main classroom building. Kivett was completed on November 2, 1903, and in its early days served as the primary building of the academy, a rural school that educated children from kindergarten to the 12th grade. Butler Chapel is a chapel located in Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina Buies Creek () , from the North Carolina Collection's website at the . It is the first and only chapel on Campbell University's campus. Completed in 2009, it is named after its initial benefactors, alumni Anna and Robert Butler. James Archibald Campbell
James Archibald Campbell (January 13, 1862 – March 18, 1934) founded Campbell University (originally Buies Creek Academy) in Buies Creek, North Carolina in 1887. Biography Campbell was the father of Leslie H. Campbell, Dr. Leslie Campbell, who would succeed him as president of Campbell College and Arthur Carlyle Campbell, who would become president of Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. Although he first attended in 1886, J.A. Campbell received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wake Forest University, Wake Forest College in 1911 on the same day as did his two sons. One of his grandchildren, Catherine Campbell King, resides across from the university he founded. He is buried at the Buies Creek Cemetery in Buies Creek. Legacy The James Archibald Campbell House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Team Wiggins Le Col (), also known as ''Team Wiggins'' in media, was a professional developmental cycling team based in the United Kingdom, which began competing in elite road bicycle racing and track cycling in 2015. The team folded at the end of the 2019 season after completing the Tour of Britain. Team history The team was founded by Bradley Wiggins, after much speculation in the latter part of the 2014 road season, in order to better facilitate his return to the track as part of his preparations for the 2016 Olympic Games. The newspaper was established in 1925 and was originally known as ''Creek Pebbles'' until the current name was adopted in 1983.
