The Kite Mansion, also known as the Kite House, is a historic home located in Elkton, Rockingham County, Virginia. It was built in 1948, and consists of a two-story, five-bay, central-passage plan main block with flanking one-story wings in the Colonial Revival style. It is constructed of concrete block and clad in running bond brick. The front facade features a Classical Revival style, pedimented, two-story portico. Elkton, Virginia
Elkton (formerly Conrad's Store) is an incorporated town in Rockingham County, Virginia, United States. It is included in the Harrisonburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 2,762 at the 2010 census. Elkton was named for the Elk Run stream. It is located along the south fork of the Shenandoah River at the intersections of east-west U.S. Route 33 and north-south U.S. Route 340. The town celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2008. Rockingham County is a county located in the U.S. state of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 83,757. Its county seat is the independent city of Harrisonburg. The Colonial Revival architectural style seeks to revive elements of American colonial architecture. The beginnings of the Colonial Revival style are often attributed to the Centennial Exhibition of 1876, which reawakened Americans to the architectural traditions of their colonial past.
