Akihiro Kitada
is a Japanese sociologist and an associate professor at the Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies, University of Tokyo. He received his PhD from the University of Tokyo in 2004. Before he took his current position in 2003, he was teaching at the University of Tsukuba. He was a visiting professor at Leipzig University in 2011. His research topics include theoretical sociology, cultural sociology and history of media. He has acquired a reputation for his analysis of advertising, early cinema, magazines, TV, internet and other forms of media in modern and contemporary Japan as well as for his theoretical writings on culture and media. He is known among the reading public in Japan for co-editing the journal ''Shiso chizu'' (思想地図) with the cultural critic Hiroki Azuma during its first years. Kayo Kitada
is a retired Japanese judoka. Kitada was born in Shirahama, Wakayama and began judo at the age of 10. She graduated from Nippon Sport Science University in 2001. In 2002, she participated Asian Games held in Busan and won a gold medal in the Extra Lightweight category. Kitada also won a gold medal at Paris Super World Cup, Otto World Cup Hamburg and other international championships but did not participate in the Olympic Games or World Championships mainly due to 7 times world champion Ryoko Tamura. In 2005, Kitada finally participated in the World Championships but was defeated by Yanet Bermoy from Cuba and Alina Alexandra Dumitru from Romania. In April 2006, Kitada retired. After working at Shijonawate Junior College, Kitada played for Sanyo Electric Ltd. and won a bronze medal in the women's singles exhibition event at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
