Kismet (1956 Film)
''Kismet'' is a 1956 Pakistani drama film directed by Nazir Ajmeri. It starred Musarrat Nazir and Santosh Kumar. It deals with theme of Talaaq, and was the debut film of Khalil Qaiser. The music was composed by Feroz Nizami. A commercially successful film, it is considered as one of best film of Ajmeri's career. It was remade in 1976 by S. Suleman as ''Tallaq''. Plot The plot revolves around a happily married couple. The couple lead a happy life until they are threatened by misunderstandings among them, created by others. It leads to the rise of differences among them, which not only affect their relationship but their young daughter also. Yasmin (actress)
Yasmin, also spelled as Yasmeen, is a Pakistani actress known for her work in Pakistani cinema. Her career spanned over two decades during which she appeared as a leading lady as well as supporting roles in the films of Golden Age of Pakistani cinema. She retired from acting after her marriage with Shaukat Hussain Rizvi. Personal life Yasmin was born as Zarina in Bombay, British India in 1935. She was educated there. She first married Jaffar Shah Bokhari. After her divorce with Bokhari, she married director Shaukat Hussain Rizvi, who was the former husband of Noor Jehan. Career Yasmeen made her debut in 1949 with A.R. Kardar's '' Dillagi'' in a recurring role. After partition, she shifted to Pakistan and started working in Pakistani cinema. Saleem Raza (singer)
Noel Dias (4 March 1932 – 25 November 1983), better known as Saleem Raza ( ur, ), was a Pakistani playback singer. He started his singing career from Lahore, Pakistan and quickly gained popularity. Raza was a classically- trained singer and was more famous for singing sad songs. Raza's career suffered due to the rise of singer Ahmed Rushdi in the late 1950s. He left playback singing in 1966 as he lost his popularity with the film composers and moved to Canada where he died in 1983. Career Saleem Raza was born Noel Dias in a Christian family. Leila Arjumand Banu ( bn, লায়লা আর্জুমান্দ বানু; 5 January 1929 – 10 February 1995) was a Bangladeshi singer and social activist. Early life and education Banu was born on 5 January 1929, to a Bengali Muslim family of zamindars who held lands in Sonargaon. Her father, Syed Muhammed Taifoor, was the son of Zamindar Syed Abdul Aziz. Through her paternal great grandfather Mir Ghulam Mustafa Al-Husayni, she was a descendant of 16th-century Islamic scholar and zamindar Syed Ibrahim Danishmand. Roshan Ara Begum ( ur, ) (1917 – 6 December 1982) was a vocalist belonging to the Kirana gharana (singing style) of Hindustani classical music. Ali Sufiyan Afaqi (22 August 1933 27 January 2015; sometimes spelled Sufyan Afaqi), was a Pakistani film producer, writer and journalist. He made his debut in Lollywood films with his first ever Urdu film ''Thandi Sarak'' in 1957, and later appeared in other films as a writer and director, however he earned recognition as a film producer. He wrote about twenty eight uncertain books on travel documentary and biographies, including ''Filmi Alif Laila'', a book containing history of Pakistani cinema. Khalil Qaiser was a Pakistani film director, producer and screenwriter. Between 1961 and 1967, he directed seven films including ''Clerk (1962)'', ''Doshiza'' (1962), ''Shaheed'' (1962) and ''Farangi'' (1964). He also wrote story of ''Fashion'' (1965).
