Kismayo Airport
Kismayo Airport , also known as Kisimayu Airport, is an international airport serving Kismayo, the capital city of the Lower Juba region in Somalia. It is located in southern Jubaland, an autonomous region in Somalia. The airport was first seen under construction in 1973 by the Central Intelligence Agency. It was meant to replace the natural surface old Kismayo Airfield that had been constructed during the Italian protectorate in the 1930s. In August 2013, the Kismayo Airport was officially brought under the Juba Interim Administration. Per agreement, management of the facility was scheduled to be transferred to the Federal Government of Somalia after a period of six months. Revenues and resources generated from the airport will also be earmarked for Jubaland's service delivery and security sectors as well as local institutional development. Kismayo
Kismayo ( so, Kismaayo, Maay Maay, Maay: ''Kismanyy'', ar, كيسمايو, ; it, Chisimaio) is a port city in the southern Lower Juba (Jubbada Hoose) province of Somalia. It is the commercial capital of the autonomous Jubaland region. The city is situated southwest of Mogadishu, near the mouth of the Jubba River, where the waters empty into the Indian Ocean. According to the United Nations Development Programme, the city of Kismayo had a population of around 89,333 in 2005. The Danab Brigade (Somali language, Somali: Ciidamada Danab, "''Lightning Force"'') is a highly trained Somali National Army commando force. Its strikes have repeatedly raided land in quick succession previously held by Somali Al-Qaeda linked insurgents Al-Shabaab (militant group), Al-Shabaab. 75th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron
The 75th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron (75 EAS) is a provisional Air Force squadron. It was most recently activated in May 2014 in Djibouti, where it provides airlift support for Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa. It replaced the 52d Expeditionary Airlift Squadron. The 75th EAS is a deployed unit, made up of rotating Air Force Reserve Command and Air National Guard units, such as the 910th Airlift Wing, members of which comprised the squadron in May 2022. The squadron was first activated as the 75th Ferrying Squadron in 1943 it transported cargo. It was redesignated the 75th Transport Transition Squadron later that year and trained aircrews on transport aircraft until being disbanded the following year.
