Ben Kish
Benjamin Ernest Kish (March 31, 1917 – February 24, 1989) was a professional American football safety in the National Football League for the Brooklyn Dodgers and Philadelphia Eagles. He was also a member of the "Steagles", a team that was the result of a temporary merger between the Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers due to the league-wide manning shortages in 1943 brought on by World War II. He played college football at the University of Pittsburgh and was drafted in the eighth round of the 1940 NFL Draft The 1940 National Football League Draft was held on December 9, 1939, at the Schroeder Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Daniel Kish
Daniel Kish (born 1966 in Montebello, California) is an American expert in human echolocation and the President of World Access for the Blind (WAFTB), a California-registered nonprofit organization founded by Kish in 2000 to facilitate "the self-directed achievement of people with all forms of blindness" and increase public awareness about their strengths and capabilities. Kish and his organization have taught a form of echolocation to at least 500 blind children around the world. Kish, who had to have his eyes removed before he was 13 months old because of eye cancer, is the first totally blind person to be a legally Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) and to hold a National Blindness Professional Certification (NOMC). He also holds master's degrees in developmental psychology and special education from University of California Riverside. Kish had six siblings, including a brother named Eugene. She changed her last name from Kiss to Kish in 1973. Kish graduated from the Essex country vocational school in productive art in 1942. During World War II, the then 18-year old Kish began working for the Pennsylvania Railroad as a mechanic and then a carpenter. George Kish
Professor George Kish (1914–1989) was an internationally recognized authority known for work in geography and the history of cartography. His professional papers are held at the Bentley Historical Library in Ann Arbor. Kish was affiliated with the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, for 46 years as a teacher and researcher. He came to the University in 1939 as a research assistant in geography and was appointed an instructor of geography in 1943. He was promoted to professor in 1956, and was named the William Herbert Hobbs distinguished Professor of Geography in 1981. Kish was a Fulbright Research Professor in Italy in 1951–1952, and again in 1963. He lectured at the United Nations University in Cambridge, the Stockholm School of Economics, and the Academy of Sciences of both Poland and Hungary, and at universities in Rome, Florence, Naples, Bari, London, Oxford, and Liège.
