Kirsten Rolffes
Kirsten Rolffes (20 September 1928 – 10 April 2000) was a Danish actress, internationally mostly recognized for her roles in '' The Kingdom'' and ''Matador''. She also had a leading role in Denmark's first sitcom, ''Een stor familie'' (''One big family''), set in an early 1980s office building. She attended drama school at Frederiksberg Theater (1947-48) and at the National Theater (Kongelige teater; 1948-50). Career Her role in the country's first soap opera ''Landsbyen'' (''The Village'') helped cement her fame in her native country. She also worked in animation, voicing Ursula in the Danish language version of Disney's ''The Little Mermaid'', Maleficent in the Danish dub of ''Sleeping Beauty'', the Fairy Godmother in the Danish dub of Cinderella and the Evil Queen in the Danish dub of '' Snow White and the Seven Dwarves''. ''Waltzing Regitze'', also known as ''Memories of a Marriage'', ( Original title: ''Dansen med Regitze'') is a 1989 Danish drama film directed by Kaspar Rostrup. Based upon a popular Danish novel by Martha Christensen, the film is an unsentimental portrait of the history and changes of a middle-aged couple's marriage, told through flashbacks during a summer party. The film stars Ghita Nørby and Frits Helmuth. ''Waltzing Regitze'' was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. In 1990, it won the Robert Award for Film of the Year and swept the Bodil Awards, winning Best Danish Film as well as all four of acting categories. ''Valhalla'' is a Danish animated feature film released in 1986 by Metronome, based on volumes one, four and five of the comics series of the same name, in its turn based on the Scandinavian tales of the Norse mythology, as they are told in Snorri Sturlusons so-called Younger Edda (c. 1230), and in the Poetic Edda. It was directed by Disney animator Jeffrey J. Varab and cartoonist Peter Madsen, the latter of which is one of the writers and the main artist on the ''Valhalla'' comics. The movie takes plot elements told from the three comic albums "Cry Wolf", "The Story of Quark" and "The Journey to Útgarða-Loki". The film was the most expensive Danish film of 1986 and proved popular with audiences with over half a million sold tickets, matching a tenth of Denmark's population at the time. Based on a play by Bjarne Reuter, ''Buster's verden'' deals with the experiences of young Buster Oregon Mortensen. The television series was a break-through for director Bille August, and the soundtrack also provided a hit for the young singer Nanna Lüders Jensen.
