Alexis Kirke
Alexis Kirke is a composer and filmmaker known for his interdisciplinary practice. He has been called "the Philip K. Dick of contemporary music". Alexis is British and lives in Plymouth, in South West England. Alexis says he takes his inspiration from both the Arts and from Science/Technology – and has two doctorates – one from each of those Faculties at Plymouth University. In particular, his highest profile work has been motivated by interests in quantum mechanics, marine science, stock markets, and artificial intelligence. Alexis is senior research fellow at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Computer Music Research at the Plymouth University, and is composer-in-residence for the Plymouth Marine Institute. Álvur Kirke
Álvur Kirke (born 29 July 1939 in Vágur) is a former Faroese docker and politician ( MF). He worked on the wharf in Tórshavn from 1972 onwards. He was one of the founders of the Christian democratic party Miðflokkurin in 1992, and was a member of the board of the party until 2004. Kirke was chairman of the party from 1992 until 1994, and again from 1999 until 2001, succeeded on both occasions by Jenis av Rana. Basil Wharton Kirke
Basil Everal Wharton Kirke (29 March 1893 – 8 January 1958) was a radio broadcaster and executive with the Australian Broadcasting Commission. He gravitated into this field after a varied career in New South Wales and the Pacific Islands. History Kirke was born in Armidale, New South Wales, a son of draftsman Samuel Wharton Kirke (c. 1856 – 28 April 1942) and his wife Ellen "Ellie" Wharton Kirke MBE (1866 –10 October 1945), née Clements. All members of his family were named "Wharton Kirke", most, Basil Kirke being an exception, using it as a double-barrelled surname, occasionally hyphenated. David Kirke
Sir David Kirke ( – 1654), also spelt David Ker, was an adventurer, privateer and colonial governor. He is best known for his successful capture of Québec in 1629 during the Thirty Years' War and his subsequent governorship of lands in Newfoundland. A favourite of Charles I, Kirke's downfall came with that of the Crown during the English Civil War and it is believed he died in prison. Family Kirke was a son of Gervase (Jarvis) Kirke, a rich merchant of the City of London, and Elizabeth Goudon, a French Huguenot woman. He was raised in Dieppe, in Normandy. George Kirke
George Kirke (died 1675) was a Scottish-born courtier and Member of Parliament for Clitheroe. He was a son of George Kirke, a servant of James VI of Scotland. George Kirke senior was keeper of the chamber door to Prince Charles in Scotland at Dunfermline Palace and was given a pension for his long service, with other servants of the Prince in March 1605. Career George Kirke, younger, was a page to Prince Henry. He became a Groom of the Chamber to Prince Charles in 1613. Kirke went to Spain in 1623 during Prince Charles' Spanish Match. Gord Kirke
Gordon I. Kirke (born 1945/1946) is a Canadian sports and entertainment lawyer, university professor, and regular commentator on radio and television. He is a graduate of the Osgoode Hall Law School, and has Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws degrees. He has been legal counsel to the Toronto Blue Jays since 1976, and prepared the original documents which led to the team's foundation. He was involved in contract negotiations in the Eric Lindros trade, and later became a player agent representing 45 National Hockey League players. Ian Kirke (born 26 December 1981) is an English former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 2000s and 2010s. He played the majority of his career for the Leeds Rhinos in the Super League, for whom he made over 200 appearances and won the Super League Grand Final on five occasions. Simon Frederick St George Kirke (born 28 July 1949) is an English rock drummer best known as a member of Free and Bad Company. He has been the only continuous member of Bad Company since their inception. General Sir Walter Mervyn St George Kirke, (19 January 1877 – 2 September 1949) was the Commander in Chief of the British Home Forces during the Second World War. Military career Born the second son of Colonel St. George Mervyn Kirke RE and his wife Sarah, Walter Kirke was commissioned into the Royal Artillery as a second lieutenant on 21 September 1896. He was promoted to lieutenant on 21 September 1899, and to captain on 4 December 1901 while serving in Waziristan on the North West Frontier of India between 1901 and 1902.
