Kirby Cannon
Kirby Cannon (born January 18, 1958) is an American college football coach and former player. He was the head football coach at Austin Peay Governors football, Austin Peay State University (APSU), a position he held from March 2013 to November 2015. He served in the same capacity at Missouri S&T Miners football, Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) from 1999 to 2009, compiling a record of 35 wins and 86 losses. In January 2017, Cannon was tapped to be the defensive coordinator for the Northern Michigan Wildcats. A defensive coordinator is a coach responsible for a gridiron football (American football) team's defense. Generally, the defensive coordinator, the offensive coordinator and the special teams coordinator represent the second level of a team's coaching structure, with the head coach being the first level. The primary role of the defensive coordinator is managing the roster of defensive players, overseeing the assistant coaches, developing the defensive game plan, and calling plays for the defense during the game. The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) is a List of NCAA conferences, college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the NCAA Division II, Division II level, headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. Great Lakes Football Conference
The Great Lakes Football Conference (GLFC) began operations in the 2006 season, with six institutions competing. After the 2011 season the remaining institutions moved into the Great Lakes Valley Conference. A previous incarnation of the conference was disbanded after the 1999 season. NCAA Division II independent schools are four-year institutions that compete in college athletics at the NCAA Division II level, but do not belong to an established athletic conference for a particular sport.
