Kira Kelly
Kira Kelly is an American cinematographer. She is perhaps best known for her work on '' 13th'', which earned her an Emmy Award nomination, and the cable series ''Queen Sugar''. Career Kelly is a graduate of Northwestern University with a major in Radio/Television/Film. Her professional film career began as an electrician. In a 2017 interview on the public radio series ''The Frame'', she indicated that she would also "shoot any project I could get my hands on." She also learned a lot from working as a gaffer on bigger budget projects. Her early work as a cinematographer included two features directed by Tom Gustafson and the Hulu series ''East Los High''. A big break in her career occurred when Ava DuVernay reached out to her through social media. The cinematographer or director of photography (sometimes shortened to DP or DOP) is the person responsible for the photographing or recording of a film, television production, music video or other live action piece. Destin Daniel Cretton
Destin Daniel Cretton is an American filmmaker. He is best known for his films ''Short Term 12'' (2013), ''The Glass Castle'' (2017), ''Just Mercy'' (2019) and the Marvel Studios film ''Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings'' (2021). He has also been tapped to direct Marvel Studios' '' Avengers: The Kang Dynasty'' (2025). Early life Cretton was born in 1978 in Haiku, Hawaii on the island of Maui. He is of half-Japanese descent. Sydney Freeland
Sydney Freeland (born October 10, 1980) is a Navajo filmmaker. She wrote and directed the short film ''Hoverboard'' (2012) and the film ''Drunktown's Finest'' (2014), which garnered numerous acclaims after premiering at the Sundance Film Festival. Her second film, ''Deidra and Laney Rob a Train'', debuted at Sundance and was released on Netflix in 2017. Early life Freeland was born in Gallup, New Mexico, United States in 1980 to a Navajo father and a Scottish mother, and she was raised on a Navajo reservation. Freeland attended Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She is a 2004 Fulbright scholar, focusing her scholarship on a field study of indigenous peoples in Ecuador.
