Kipsang
Kipsang is a masculine given name among the Kalenjin people in Kenya. It means "born outside the house". Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich
Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich (born 15 March 1982) is a Kenyan professional athlete who specialises in long-distance running, competing in events ranging from 10 km to the marathon. He was the bronze medallist in the marathon at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He is the former world record holder in the marathon with a time of 2:03:23, which he set at the 2013 Berlin Marathon. He has run under 2 hours 4 minutes for the marathon on four occasions. Geoffrey Kipsang Kamworor (born 22 November 1992) is a Kenyan professional long-distance runner who competes in cross country, marathon, and half marathon races. He was the 2011 World Junior Cross Country Champion. Kamworor won the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships three times in a row from 2014 to 2018. In the IAAF World Cross Country Championships he won in 2015 and 2017. He won his first World Marathon Major at the 2017 New York City Marathon. Kamworor again won the New York City Marathon in 2019. Abel Kipsang Bele (born 22 November 1996) is a Kenya, Kenyan middle-distance runner who specializes in the 1500 metres. He placed fourth in the event at the Athletics at the 2020 Summer Olympics, 2020 Tokyo Olympics. William Kipsang
William Rop Kipsang (born 26 June 1977) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specialises in the marathon. He has won marathons in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Beirut and Seoul. His personal best for the event is 2:05:49 hours. His best performance was on 13 April 2008, winning the Rotterdam Marathon with a new course record and PR of 2:05:49. On 15 April 2007 he was placed third in this race, running in difficult circumstances due to the warm weather. He has previously won the Amsterdam Marathon (2003), the Egmond Half Marathon (2004) and the Dam tot Damloop 10 mile race (2005). In 2006 he earned seventh place in the New York City Marathon. John Korir (also ''John Kipsang Korir;'' born December 15, 1975) is a Kenyan athlete who specializes in road running. John Korir was born in 1975 in Mulot village, Bomet District. He represents Kipsigis people, a Kalenjin sub-tribe. He is not to be confused with John Cheruiyot Korir, a runner born in 1981 who has represented Kenya at the Olympics and various other championships. The two have competed against each other a couple of times. At the 2002 Lisbon Half Marathon, the older Korir was better, while John Cheruiyot Korir beat his namesake at a cross country event in Kenya in 2003. Hillary Kipsang Yego (born 2 April 1992) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in the steeplechase. He has a personal best of 8:03.57 minutes for the event. He was the gold medallist at the 2009 World Youth Championships in Athletics. Career He began training alongside Edwin Soi and made his breakthrough in the 2009 season. After finishing second to Peter Lagat in the 2000 metres steeplechase at the national youth trials he was chosen for the 2009 World Youth Championships in Athletics. There he beat his Kenyan rival in the final stretch of the race, winning the gold medal in a time of 5:25.33 minutes in spite of his poor hurdling technique. Yego attempted to gain qualification for the senior event at the Kenyan World trials 3000 metres steeplechase race, but finished in ninth place. Kalenjin People
The Kalenjin are a group of tribes designated as Highland Nilotes and are descended from Maliri people ''(thus related to Daasanach of Ethiopia.)'' The Kalenjin are cousins with Datooga people of Tanzania and Malawi. In contrast, their designation groups them with other Nilotes including Maasai, Luo, Turkana and Nuer, Dinka among others.
