Kinner YR-720A
The Kinner C-5 was an American five cylinder radial engine for small general and sport aircraft of the 1930s. Design and development The C-5 was a development of the earlier R-5 with greater power and dimensions. The main change was the increase in cylinder bore from 128 mm (5.0 in) to 143 mm (5.625 in) and an increase in cylinder stroke from 140 mm (5.5 in) to 145 mm (5.75 in). This led to a corresponding increase in displacement from 8.85 liters (540 cu in) to 11.71 liters (715 cu in). The U.S. military designation was R-720. Applications * Consolidated YPT-11B * Kellett K-3 * Kinner P * Stearman 6H Cloudboy * Stearman YPT-9C * Verville YPT-10D * Waco OSO * Waco OEC * Waco ODC * Waco OBF * Waterman FlexWing Waterman may refer to: * Waterman (occupation), a river worker who transferred passengers across and along the city centre rivers in Britain * The Chesapeake Bay term for commercial fishermen, particularly those who seek oysters ...

WikiProject Aircraft
A WikiProject, or Wikiproject, is a Wikimedia movement affinity group for contributors with shared goals. WikiProjects are prevalent within the largest wiki, Wikipedia, and exist to varying degrees within sister projects such as Wiktionary, Wikiquote, Wikidata, and Wikisource. They also exist in different languages, and translation of articles is a form of their collaboration. During the COVID-19 pandemic, CBS News noted the role of Wikipedia's WikiProject Medicine in maintaining the accuracy of articles related to the disease. Another WikiProject that has drawn attention is WikiProject Women Scientists, which was profiled by '' Smithsonian'' for its efforts to improve coverage of women scientists which the profile noted had "helped increase the number of female scientists on Wikipedia from around 1,600 to over 5,000". On Wikipedia Some Wikipedia WikiProjects are substantial enough to engage in cooperative activities with outside organizations relevant to the field at issue. For e ...

Stearman YPT-9C
The Stearman Model 6 Cloudboy was a 1930s American training biplane designed and built by the Stearman Aircraft Company of Wichita, Kansas. History The Cloudboy was designed as a commercial or military trainer. Due to economic pressure during the Great Depression, only a few aircraft were built. Three civil models were built, followed by four similar aircraft for evaluation by the United States Army Air Corps. Designated YPT-9 by the Army, it failed to gain any orders. All models went through a number of engine changes (resulting in new designations for both the military and civil aircraft). Variants ;Model 6A Cloudboy :Initial civil production with a Wright J-6 Whirlwind 5 engine, three built. ;Model 6C Cloudboy :Re-engined with a Wright J-6-9 Whirlwind (R-975-1), also designated YBT-3. ;Model 6D Cloudboy :Re-engined with a Pratt & Whitney Wasp Junior, also designated YBT-5 ;Model 6F Cloudboy :Re-engined with a Continental A70 engine, also designated YBT-9A. ;Model 6H Clo ...

Waco F Series
The Waco F series is a series of American-built general aviation and military biplane trainers of the 1930s from the Waco Aircraft Company. Development The Waco 'F' series of biplanes supplanted and then replaced the earlier 'O' series of 1927/33. The 'F' series had an airframe which was smaller and about lighter than the 'O' series, while continuing to provide accommodation for three persons in tandem open cockpits. A similar performance to the earlier model was obtained on the power of smaller and more economical engines.Simpson 2001, p. 573 The initial models were the INF ( Kinner engine), KNF ( Kinner) and the RNF ( Warner Scarab), all of which had externally braced tailwheel undercarriages. Many further sub-models followed with more powerful engines of up to . The most powerful in the range was the ZPF of 1936/37, intended for executive use. Operational history The 'F' series was popular with private owner pilots for sporting and other uses and continued in prod ...

Waco C Series
The Waco Custom Cabins were a series of up-market single-engined four-to-five-seat cabin sesquiplanes of the late 1930s produced by the Waco Aircraft Company of the United States. "Custom Cabin" was Waco's own description of the aircraft which despite minor differences, were all fabric-covered biplanes. Design Nearly all of the Waco Custom Cabins were powered by radial engines (there being one factory-built exception, the MGC-8) and the purchaser could specify almost any commercially available engine and Waco would build an aircraft powered by it, hence the profusion of designations, as the first letter indicates the engine installed. Some models were offered in case someone wanted a specific engine but not all were built. Fuselage structure was typical for the period, being welded steel tubing with light wood strips to fair the shape in. The wings were made of spruce with two spars each, having ailerons on only the upper wings, mounted on a false spar. Split flaps were installed ...

Waco 10
The Waco 10/GXE/Waco O series was a range of three-seat open-cockpit biplanes built by the Advance Aircraft Company, later the Waco Aircraft Company. Design and development The Waco 10 was a larger span development of the Waco 9, both single-engined three-seat single-bay biplanes constructed around steel-tube frames. The wing covering was fabric, and both upper and lower planes carried ailerons, which were strut linked. The two passengers sat side by side in a cockpit under the upper wing and ahead of the pilot, who had a separate cockpit. It had a split-axle fixed undercarriage and a tailwheel. The main undercarriage was fitted with hydraulic shock absorbers, unusual at the time on a light aircraft. The fin could be trimmed on the ground to offset engine torque, and the tailplane could be trimmed in flight. Initially it was powered by a Curtiss OX-5 water-cooled 90° V-8 engine producing . Its first flight was in 1927. It was numerically the most important type to be built by ...

Verville YPT-10D
The Verville Sport Trainer AT was a two-seat tandem biplane designed by Alfred V. Verville as a civilian version of the YPT-10 primary trainer, intended to appeal to the wealthy private owner. The White Aircraft Company bought the rights to the AT in 1939. Civilian version The Sportsman, as it was also known,Joseph P Juptner's US Civil Aircraft, Volume 3 (Page 193-195). Joseph P Juptner's US Civil Aircraft, Volume 4 (Pages 83-86). offered excellent flight characteristics and good stability, due in part to the design of the lower wing. With leather trim, battery with starter, and navigation lights, the Sport Trainer sold for $5,250. There were 10 manufactured. The owner of serial number one was Eugene Francis May. One AT was built for NACA testing in 1930, and was designated the AT-4. It had modified wide landing gear with added fittings for pontoons, which may or may not have been used. The colors were a blue fuselage, silver wings, yellow stripe. Special equipment included: ...
