Kinky Boots (musical)
''Kinky Boots'' is a musical with music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper and book by Harvey Fierstein. Based on the 2005 British film '' Kinky Boots'', written by Geoff Deane and Tim Firth and mostly inspired by true events, the musical tells the story of Charlie Price. Having inherited a shoe factory from his father, Charlie forms an unlikely partnership with cabaret performer and drag queen Lola to produce a line of high-heeled boots and save the business. In the process, Charlie and Lola discover that they are not so different after all. Following the show's conception in 2006, the creative team was assembled by 2010. The original production of ''Kinky Boots'' premiered at the Bank of America Theatre in Chicago in October 2012, with both direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell, and starring Stark Sands and Billy Porter as Charlie and Lola, respectively. Jerry Mitchell
Jerry Mitchell is an American theatre director and choreographer. Early life and education Born in Paw Paw, Michigan, Mitchell later moved to St. Louis where he pursued his acting, dancing and directing career in theatre. Although he did not graduate from the Fine Arts college at Webster University in St. Louis after attending for a year, he later received an honorary degree from Webster University in 2005. Career Mitchell's early Broadway credits were as a dancer in ''The Will Rogers Follies'' and revivals of ''Brigadoon'' and ''On Your Toes''. ''Trouble at the Top'' was a business-based BBC television fly on the wall documentary broadcast on BBC2. The series focussed on business failings or disputes between business people. Mainly the series depicted half-hour documentaries on large businesses such as Sainsbury's or privately owned ventures. It also featured a number of celebrity-based editions such as Chef Gordon Ramsay, supermodel Jodie Kidd and even pop group Bucks Fizz. The series ran for 11 seasons from 1997 to 2007. The 2005 movie '' Kinky Boots'' was inspired by an episode about W.J.
