Kingwood, Houston
Kingwood is a 14,000 acre (57 km²) master-planned community located in northeast Houston, Texas, United States. The majority of the community is located in Harris County with a small portion in Montgomery County. Known as the "Livable Forest," it is the largest master-planned community in Harris County and second-largest within the 10-county metropolitan area. It was classified as a "census-designated place" during the 1990 census, when the population recorded was 37,397. Kinwood, Texas
Kinwood (formerly Kenwood) is an unincorporated community along U.S. Route 59 and the Southern Pacific Railroad in Harris County, Texas, United States located four miles south of the city hall of Humble. History Kenwood became Kinwood when the postmaster discovered that there was another community called Kenwood. State highway maps show that in 1936 Kinwood had a church, a sawmill, and several residences. A post office opened in 1945. In 1948 Kinwood had 156 residents. In 1952 Kinwood had one business. In 1958 Kinwood had two businesses. When the post office closed during that year, mail was delivered from Houston. In the 1980s the community had three churches and several residences. Houston Public Library is the public library system serving Houston, Texas, United States. History Houston Lyceum and the Carnegie Library The Houston Public Library system traces its founding to the creation of the second Houston Lyceum in 1854. The lyceum was preceded by a debating society, a special-interest mechanics' lyceum, and a circulating library. Lake Houston
Lake Houston is a reservoir on the San Jacinto River, 15 miles (24 km) northeast of downtown Houston, Texas, United States. The reservoir is the primary municipal water supply for the city of Houston. Location and creation Situated between the communities of Kingwood, Atascocita and Humble on the west bank, Sheldon on the south, and Crosby and Huffman on the east. An earthen dam spans a portion of the southern bank along Dwight D. Eisenhower Park. The reservoir was created in 1953 when the City of Houston built the dam to impound a reservoir to replace Sheldon Lake, then the primary source of water for the city. King Ranch
King Ranch is the largest ranch in the United States. At some it is larger than the state of Rhode Island and country of Luxembourg. It is mainly a cattle ranch, but also produced the Triple Crown winning racehorse Assault. The ranch is located in South Texas between Corpus Christi and Brownsville adjacent to Kingsville.
