Kingsley, Western Australia
Kingsley is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Joondalup. Kingsley is bounded to the north by Whitfords Avenue, to the south by Hepburn Avenue, to the west by the Mitchell Freeway and to the east by Wanneroo Road. Lake Goollelal lies in the eastern part of the suburb, parallel to Wanneroo Road. The Kingsley residential area is thus divided by the lake, with a small enclave between the lake and Wanneroo Road. History The suburb of Kingsley is named after the village of Kingsley which is near Winchester in Hampshire, England. The name was chosen for the historical association with the first owner of land in the area, William Kernot Shenton. Shenton was born in Winchester in 1802, and arrived in Western Australia in 1829. Perth
Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. Hepburn Avenue
Hepburn Avenue is an arterial east-west road in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. The road links Sorrento in the west with Malaga and Whiteman in the east. It also connects the residential developments that span its length with several local facilities, as well as major road routes into central Perth. History The road was built in the 1980s to meet suburban demand and was originally proposed on the Metropolitan Region Scheme as a freeway. It was named after Alistair Hepburn (1915-2004), one of the drafters of the Scheme together with Professor Gordon Stephenson (1908–1997). Greenwood Railway Station
Greenwood railway station is a railway station on the Transperth network. It is located on the Joondalup line, from Perth station serving the suburb of Greenwood. History The station was originally proposed as the Hepburn station under the Northern Suburbs Transit System Masterplan in 1989 to coincide with the Hepburn Heights development. The master plan placed the station as a future station until demand of the railway and suburbs warranted the construction of the station. After being promised a number of times but not delivered, construction finally began in 2004 with the aim of reducing peak demand at the nearby Warwick and Whitfords stations, opening on 29 January 2005. Whitfords Railway Station
Whitfords railway station is a railway station located on the boundary of Padbury and Kingsley, suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. It is on the Joondalup railway line, which is part of the Transperth commuter rail network. It is located in the median of the Mitchell Freeway, and consists of an elevated bus interchange on top of an island platform at ground level. South of Whitfords, trains run every 5 minutes during peak. North of Whitfords, trains run every 10 minutes during peak. Between peak during the day, trains run every 15 minutes. Warwick railway station is a railway station on the Transperth network. It is located on the Joondalup line, from Perth station serving the suburb of Warwick. History Prior to the commissioning of the site as a railway station, the location was originally a bus interchange known as the Warwick Bus Station. Opened in 1987, it was similar in design and appearance to facilities constructed at Mirrabooka and Rockingham for the same purpose. Transperth is the brand name of the public transport system serving the city and suburban areas of Perth, the state capital of Western Australia.
