Kingsbury, London
Kingsbury is a district of northwest London in the London Borough of Brent. Its ancient scope stretches to include various distinct areas that were once small villages until the inter-war period. Kingsbury was in 2001 a ward and in 2011 was identifiable with the Fryent and Barnhill wards approximately. Today it forms a quiet suburb between Fryent Country Park to the west and the Brent Reservoir to the east, along with a Jubilee line tube station and accompanying shopping district on the western side. The postal district is NW9 which it shares with Colindale and West Hendon. Etymology The name ''Kingsbury'' means "The King's fortification". Kingsbury are an Orlando-based psychedelic indie rock band, signed to Post Records. Their music has melodic, discordant and ambient elements. History Kingsbury formed in 2003 in Orlando, Florida when songwriter Bruce Reed met bass player Mark Freeman and drummer T.J. Burke. Reed had recorded a number of songs on a four-track machine. In December 2003 guitarist Nick Sanders and keyboardist Riley Anderson also joined the band. In early 2004, the band release their first record, a 4-song EP called ''This Place is Coming Down''. The band started playing shows in and around Central Florida, then in other parts of Florida. ''This Place is Coming Down'' received positive reviews from several media outlets. Kingsbury Run
Kingsbury Run is the name that refers to an area on the southeast side of Cleveland, Ohio, located near the suburb of Shaker Heights. The area stretches westward through Kinsman Road. It contained a natural watershed that ran through East 79th Street and carried storm waters into the Cuyahoga River, draining them from the areas now known as Maple Heights and Warrensville Heights. Kingsbury Run was named after James Kingsbury (1767–1847), one of the earliest settlers in the Western Reserve, who became the first inhabitant of Newburgh in 1797. It is also the route through which the RTA Rapid Transit travels on its way to Public Square in downtown Cleveland. Kingsbury Run became notorious in the mid-1930s when an unidentified serial killer, the Cleveland Torso Murderer, used the area as a dumping ground for the dismembered remains of some of their first victims. Kingsbury Plantation, Maine
Kingsbury Plantation is a plantation in Piscataquis County, Maine, United States. The plantation was named for Judge Sanford Kingsbury, a landowner. As of the 2020 census, the plantation had a total population of 28. History The area that now contains the plantation was originally part of the Bingham Purchase and was purchased by Judge Sanford Kingsbury in 1833 for $4,000. Judge Kingsbury built two mills on Kingsbury Pond in 1835, and the area grew quickly enough that on March 22, 1836 it was incorporated as the town of Kingsbury. By the 1880s, the town had a store, hotel, church, and two schoolhouses. In 1886, the town disbanded, and it reorganized as a plantation in 1887. The reorganization as a plantation was validated by the state legislature in 1895. Kingsbury Place is a private place neighborhood in St. Louis, Missouri that was founded in 1902. The land had been surveyed by Julius Pitzman, surveyor and planner, who had been the Chief Engineer for Forest Park and who was considered "the father of the private place" in the United States. Kingsbury House
The Kingsbury House is a historic house at 137 Suffolk Street in the Chestnut Hill section of Newton, Massachusetts. The oldest part of this -story timber frame may have been built as early as 1686; its exterior styling suggests a construction date in the early 18th century, but the earlier structure may have been incorporated in new construction at that time. The house is one a few First Period houses in Newton, and was associated for many years in the 19th century with the Kingsbury family, who were major landowners in the Chestnut Hill area. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, and included in an expansion of the Old Chestnut Hill Historic District in 1990. Kingsbury Grade
State Route 207 (SR 207) is a state highway in western Douglas County, Nevada, United States. Commonly known as the Kingsbury Grade, it is one of three Nevada highways that connect the western edge of the state to the Lake Tahoe region through the Carson Range. The route was part of State Route 19 prior to 1976. Route description SR 207 begins at a junction with U.S. Route 50 in Stateline, less than from the California state line near the southern shores of Lake Tahoe. From there, the route heads eastward on an uphill climb through the Kingsbury area to travel through Daggett Pass (elevation ).
