Kingdom Of Welcome Addiction
''Kingdom of Welcome Addiction'' is the third studio album by IAMX, released on 19 May 2009. Chris Corner described ''Kingdom of Welcome Addiction'' as being "like Disney World but with lipstick, cynicism and wit". It is the first IAMX album not to feature the vocals of Sue Denim, as well as being the first not to include any SP4 tracks. The album was given to journalists to review but one journalist leaked it online in April and the album dispatch was also delayed. However, as an apology those who ordered it from Boutique IAMX were treated to an acoustic version of 'Running' which Chris filmed in a corridor of his own apartment building. This clip was later included on the CD-ROM of 'My Secret Friend'. IAMX
IAMX is the solo musical project of Chris Corner of the band Sneaker Pimps. Founded in 2004 in London, it is an independent music project which also focuses on and experiments with visual art. Musically, IAMX spans multiple genres from electronic rock and dance music to burlesque-influenced songs and emotional ballads. Corner's striking and wide-ranging voice, and his way of programming sounds and beats, make up the obvious characteristic of the IAMX sound. From 2006 until 2014 IAMX was based in Berlin, Germany, where Corner found "the spirit to care less about the music industry and take an independent route." Berlin is also mentioned in IAMX's lyrics that concern subjects such as sexual identity, death, love, narcotic intoxication, decadence, critique of religion and politics, alienation, addiction, modern society, and gender bending. ''Live in Warsaw'' is the first live album by IAMX, released on 14 November 2008 through record company 61seconds. The album was originally only to be released in Poland (under exclusive license to Vision Film), however it was made available worldwide by an online retailer. The album is now out of print. It was available as a digital download. On 26 June 2020 the digital download version was re-released . The performance was recorded on 29 July 2007 at the Agnieszka Osiecka Music Studio of Polish Radio, in front of a live audience for Polskie Radio Program III. "My Secret Friend" is a song performed by IAMX and Imogen Heap, released as the third single from the album ''Kingdom of Welcome Addiction''. The CD single is available only through the IAMX webstore. Music video The music video, directed by Chris Corner, features Corner dressed as a woman, the video's lead female character, and Heap as a man, the lead male character. He stated in an interview that when he wrote it he pictured the characters as siblings, who have a romantic, possibly incestuous, relationship. The video is featured on the CD single.
