Biography

He was born in Noxubee County, Mississippi in on 2 August 1859. In 1884, he graduated from the National Normal University of Ohio. He taught at Mississippi A&M College, now known as Mississippi State University, and was superintendent of the new public school system in Meridian, Mississippi. He was also president of the Industrial Institute and College, now known as Mississippi University for Women. From 1907 to 1914, he served as chancellor of the University of Mississippi. Harry Kincannon
Harry Kincannon (July 26, 1909 – October 21, 1965), nicknamed "Tin Can", was an American Negro league pitcher in the 1930s. A native of Northfork, West Virginia, Kincannon made his Negro leagues debut in 1931 with the Pittsburgh Crawfords. He played his first six seasons with Pittsburgh, and was selected to represent the club at the 1934 East–West All-Star Game. Kincannon went on to play for the New York Black Yankees and Washington Black Senators The Washington Black Senators were a Negro league baseball team based in Washington, DC. When the Washington Elite Giants moved to Baltimore, MD in 1938, the gap was filled in by the Black Senators. They were just 2–13 in the Negro National Lea ..., then finished his career in 1939 by returning to the Crawfords, who had since moved to Toledo. He died in Beckley, West Virginia in 1965 at age 56. Indya Kincannon
Indya Kincannon (born March 30, 1971) is an American politician who serves as the 69th Mayor of Knoxville, Tennessee since 2019. She won the 2019 mayoral election with more than 52% of the runoff vote over opponent Eddie Mannis. She is Knoxville's second female mayor, after her predecessor Madeline Rogero. Though elected in a nonpartisan municipal election, Kincannon is affiliated with the Democratic Party. Education and early career Kincannon earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Haverford College. As an undergraduate, she studied Spanish colonial history during the spring of 1992 at the University of Barcelona. She then earned a master's degree in Public Affairs and Urban and Regional Planning from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. Theodore "Ted" Nieman Kincannon
Theodore Nieman Kincannon (August 16, 1896 - January 29, 1936) was a pioneer of aviation, early airline pilot, and one of only ten recipients of the Airmail Flyers' Medal of Honor. Early life He was born on August 16, 1896 in Boonsville, Texas, the only child of William Anderson Kincannon and Mary Bettie Barksdale. College Kincannon attended Polytechnic College in Fort Worth, now Texas Wesleyan University, in 1913 – 1914. When the campus was re-designated as a woman's college Kincannon transferred to Southern Methodist University for studies 1915 – 1916. While attending SMU, Kincannon played baseball and managed the basketball team. The Army and learning to fly Kincannon joined the Army and learned to fly in 1918.
