Kimono (band)
kimono are an Icelandic-Canadian math rock band, formed in 2001. The group consists of Alison MacNeil (vocals, guitars, production), Gylfi Blöndal (bass, baritone guitar and guitar) and Kjartan Bragi Bjarnason (drums and percussion). Blöndal is also a member of Hudson Wayne and Mr. Silla and Bjarnason plays drums Seabear and has performed on a number of other Icelandic independent albums. kimono's most recent studio album, Easy Music for Difficult People, was released by Kimi Records on 4 December 2009. The album topped many "Best of 2009" lists with journalists in Iceland. In 2011, MacNeil came out as transgender after having been in treatment for Gender dysphoria since late 2003. Ólafur Arnalds
Ólafur Arnalds (; born 3 November 1986) is an Icelandic multi-instrumentalist and producer from Mosfellsbær, Iceland. He mixes strings and piano with loops and beats, a sound ranging from ambient/electronic to atmospheric pop. He is also the former drummer for hardcore and metal bands Fighting Shit, Celestine, and others. In 2009, Ólafur also formed an experimental techno project, entitled Kiasmos, with Janus Rasmussen from the Icelandic electro-pop band Bloodgroup, announcing his electronic debut album in 2014. Maus is a rock band from Iceland, formed in 1993. The band consists of Birgir Örn "Biggi" Steinarsson on vocals and guitar, Daníel "Danni" Þorsteinsson on drums, Eggert Gíslason on bass, and Páll Ragnar "Palli" Pálsson on guitar. Most of their songs are sung in Icelandic, though English versions of some songs have been released, as well as some original songs in English. The band was active releasewise from 1994 to 2004 but still continue to play live.
