Kimberley Leggett
Kimberley Leggett (born 23 March 1993) is a Malaysian-British TV host and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2012. She represented Malaysia at Miss Universe 2012. Personal life Leggett was born and raised in Tanjung Bungah, Penang, Malaysia to Jillian Estrop and Stephen Leggett. She is of Eurasian ( British– Serani) descent. She is fluent in English, Malay and French as well as understands Hokkien and Cantonese. She attended St. Christopher International Primary School and later went on to The International School of Penang (Uplands). She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Media Communications and Screen Studies from University of Melbourne, Australia in 2016. Miss Universe Malaysia 2012, the 46th edition of the Miss Universe Malaysia, was held on 10 November 2012 at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, Subang Jaya, Selangor. Kimberley Leggett of Penang was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Deborah Priya Henry of Kuala Lumpur at the end of the event. She then represented Malaysia at the Miss Universe 2006 pageant in Las Vegas, United States. Kristang People
The ''Kristang'' (otherwise known as "Portuguese-Eurasians" or "Malacca Portuguese") or ''Serani'' are a creole ethnic group of people of predominantly mixed Portuguese and Malaccan descent, with substantial Dutch British, Jewish, Malay, Chinese and Indian heritage. They are based in Malaysia and to some extent in Singapore. People of this ethnicity have, besides Portuguese, a strong Dutch heritage due to intermarriages, which is common among the Kristang. In addition, due to persecution by the Portuguese Inquisition in the region, a lot of the Jews of Malacca assimilated into the Kristang community. The creole group arose in Malacca (part of present-day Malaysia) between the 16th and 17th centuries, when the city was a port and base of the Portuguese Empire.
