Nathan Kimball
Nathan Kimball (November 22, 1822 – January 21, 1898) was a physician, politician, postmaster, and military officer, serving as a general in the Union army during the American Civil War. He was the first statewide commander of the Grand Army of the Republic veterans organization in Indiana. Early life and career Kimball was born in Fredericksburg, Indiana, a small rural hamlet where he attended the local school. He attended the Washington County Seminary and then Indiana Asbury College (what is now DePauw University) from 1839 until 1841 before leaving to teach school and farm in Independence, Missouri. He studied medicine under his brother-in-law at the University of Louisville Medical School in 1844 and established a private practice in Salem and Livonia. He married Martha A. Marcus Richard Kimball, Baron Kimball (18 October 1928 – 26 March 2014) was a British Conservative politician. Early life The son of Major Lawrence Kimball, he was born in Marylebone, London, and educated at Eton College and Trinity College, Cambridge. He became a farmer and a Lloyd's underwriter. He was a councillor on Rutland County Council and commanded a squadron of the Leicestershire Yeomanry. Political career Kimball contested Derby South in 1955. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Gainsborough from a 1956 by-election until 1983. While representing this constituency, he wrote to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, after Argentina's invasion of the Falkland Islands, that he felt the British government should "let the Argentinians have the Falklands with as little fuss as possible". Fenner Kimball (October 6, 1822 – March 6, 1899) was an American manufacturer, businessman, and politician. Born in North Scituate, Providence County, Rhode Island, Kimball moved to Fall River, Massachusetts where he worked as a carpenter. Kimball then moved to East Greenwich, Rhode Island where he continued to work as a carpenter. While living in East Greenwich, Kimball served on the East Greenwich Town Council and was president of the town council and the court of probate. In 1856, Kimball moved to Wisconsin and farmed in the town of La Prairie, Rock County, Wisconsin. He then moved to Janesville, Wisconsin, in 1863, where he operated the Janesville Furniture Company. He was also in the hardware business and was involved with the Throughgood & Company that manufactured cigar boxes.
