Kim Zwarts
Kim Zwarts (Maastricht, 1955) is a Dutch photographer. Kim Zwarts studied at the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts. He has worked as a photographer on several architecture books, including monographs of Thom Mayne/Morphosis, Luis Barrágan, Wim Quist, Antonio Gaudi, Alvar Aalto, Charles Vandenhove, Wiel Arets, Dom H. van der Laan and Gerrit Rietveld. Zwarts has realized art commissions for Royal Sphinx, Mercedes-Benz, Limburg Water (WML) and Maastricht University. Study grants from the Netherlands Foundation for Fine Arts, Design and Architecture in 1990 and again in 1999/2000 enabled him to conduct photographic research. On both occasions he spent extended periods in the United States. Zwarts’ freelance work has appeared in ''Pale Pink'' (1994), ''Beyond'' (1997) and ''Maastricht 148'' (2000). Maastricht
Maastricht ( , , ; li, Mestreech ; french: Maestricht ; es, Mastrique ) is a city and a municipality in the southeastern Netherlands. It is the capital and largest city of the province of Limburg. Bonnefanten Museum
The Bonnefanten Museum is a museum of fine art in Maastricht, Netherlands. History The museum was founded in 1884 as the historical and archaeological museum of the Dutch province of Limburg. The name Bonnefanten Museum is derived from the French 'bons enfants' ('good children'), the popular name of a former convent that housed the museum from 1951 until 1978. In 1995, the museum moved to its present location, a former industrial site named 'Céramique'. The new building was designed by Italian architect Aldo Rossi. With its rocket-shaped cupola overlooking the river Maas, it is one of Maastricht's most prominent modern buildings. Since 1999, the museum has become exclusively an art museum. The historical and archaeological collections were housed elsewhere. The museum is largely funded by the province of Limburg. Berlage Institute
The Berlage Institute was an independent unaccredited postgraduate school of architecture in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, the Netherlands, that operated in 1990-2012. Named after the Dutch architect Hendrik Petrus Berlage, the Berlage Institute had an international student population and teaching staff. In 2012 the institute moved to Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, and was reestablished as ''The Berlage Center for Advanced Studies in Architecture and Urban Design.'' 1990–2012 The school was founded by Dutch architect Herman Hertzberger, who also served as the first dean. Centraal Museum
The Centraal Museum is the main museum in Utrecht, Netherlands, founded in 1838. The museum has a wide-ranging collection, mainly of works produced locally. The collection of the paintings by the Northern Mannerist Joachim Wtewael is by a long way the largest anywhere in the world. Other highlights are many significant paintings by the Utrecht Caravaggisti, such as Gerard van Honthorst and Hendrick ter Brugghen.
