Kim So-yeon (badminton)
Kim So-yeon (; born 21 July 1982) is a South Korean badminton player. She was part of the Korean junior team that won the silver medal at the 2000 Asian Junior Championships, and also clinched the bronze medal in the girls' doubles event. Kim who educated at the Sungji Girls' High School, won the 2000 National High School Championships in the mixed doubles event partnered with Lee Jae-jin. Kim later joined the Masan City team, and had won the title at the 2006 Gyeongnam Badminton Championship. Jung Yeon-kyung (; born 27 August 1982) is a South Korean badminton player. She was part of the Korean junior team that won the silver medal at the 2000 Asian Junior Championships, and also clinched the bronze medal in the girls' doubles event. Jung who educated at the Haksan Girls' High School, competed at the 2000 World Junior Championships, and won the mixed team silver medal after being defeated by Chinese team in the final. Jung later joined the Samsung Electro-Mechanics team, and won the women's doubles title at the 2003 Noonnoppi Cup Badminton Super Series partnered with Chung Jae-hee. Lee Hyo-jung (badminton)
Lee Hyo-jung (Hangul: 이효정, Hanja: 李孝貞; ; born 13 January 1981) is a South Korean former badminton player. She won the gold medal in badminton mixed doubles at the 2008 Summer Olympics with her partner, Lee Yong-dae. Lee Hyo-jung and Lee Yong-dae were unseeded, and in the finals they beat the top seeds and 2005 and 2007 world champions Lilyana Natsir and Nova Widianto of Indonesia, 21-11, 21-17. Lee Hyo-jung also won the silver medal in badminton women's doubles at the aforementioned Olympics with Lee Kyung-won; they were seeded fourth and lost to the second-seeded Chinese pair, Du Jing and Yu Yang. Lee became the first woman in Korean history to win gold medals at both the Olympics and the Asian Games. In the 2010 Asian Games, she partnered with Shin Baek-cheol instead of her usual partner, Lee Yong-dae. Zhang Yawen (; born 9 March 1985) is a badminton player from China. Career Zhang has specialized in women's doubles and mixed doubles, earning numerous international titles in both events. At various times she has partnered either Zhang Dan, or Zhao Tingting, or Wei Yili to women's doubles victories at the French (2002, 2007), German (2004), Thailand (2004), Singapore (2005, 2007), Indonesia (2006), China (2008), and Hong Kong (2008) Opens. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or if a fault has been called by the umpire, service judge, or (in their absence) the opposing side. The shuttlecock is a feathered or (in informal matches) plastic projectile which flies differently from the balls used in many other sports.
