Kim Ryong-yon
Kim Ryong-yon ( ko, 김룡연/金龍淵; 1916 – 20 March 2008) was a North Korean politician and military officer who held the rank of Vice Marshal. Biography Kim served with the Chinese Communist Army in 1930s and 1940s. Cha-soo Kim served as a liaison to the Kim Il-sung anti-Japanese guerrilla group, and after the formal establishment of the North Korean state he served in various positions in the Korean People's Army. In 1968 he was promoted to lieutenant general, in 1986 to 3 star general, in 1990 to Army General and in 1998 to Vice Marshal. He also served as a delegate to the Supreme People's Assembly from the 4th convocation in 1967, through the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th convocation in 2003. Supreme Leader Of North Korea
The supreme leader () of North Korea is the ''de facto'' paramount leader of the Workers' Party of Korea, the state and the Korean People's Army. The title has not been written into the national constitution as a separate office, but it currently states that the president of the State Affairs Commission is the supreme leader of North Korea. Likewise, according to the WPK Charter, the general secretary of the WPK is the supreme leader of the Workers' Party. Formerly, under Kim Jong-il, this title was bestowed on the office of Chairman of the National Defence Commission, who was also the WPK general secretary. The first leader of the state prior to the existence of North Korea was Terenty Shtykov who served as the head of the Soviet Civil Administration, the governing authority controlled by the Soviet Union that ruled the northern half of Korea from 1945 to 1948. 1986 North Korean Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in North Korea on 2 November 1986. 655 Deputies were elected to the parliament. The agenda of the first session of the elected eighth Supreme People's Assembly was "For the complete victory of socialism". Under the 1972 Constitution, the number of seats in the Assembly was 655. This was increased to 687 following the 1986 election.
