''Kim Boyce'' is the debut album by American Christian singer Kim Boyce, released in 1986 on Myrrh Records. The album debuted and peaked at number 29 on the ''Billboard'' Top Inspirational Albums chart. Critical reception Evan Cater of AllMusic gave the album 2.5 out of 5 stars stating that: "The result is a wildly uneven sugar puff of utterly white-bread synthesized lite pop. A few of the tunes here are catchy enough to obscure the grating qualities of Boyce's frequently shrill vocals. The appealingly minor-key "Darkened Hearts," the effective formula ballad "Here," and -- especially -- the unexpected cover of Alison Moyet's "Love Resurrection" get the album off to a promising start, thanks in large part to the immaculate synthesized sheen of Brian Tankersley's production. But the rest of the album (with the exception of the silly but engaging "Sing and Dance") is almost unbearably flabby." Kim Boyce
Kim Boyce Koreiba (born March 14, 1961, in Winter Haven, Florida) is an American Christian music singer. She is best known for her 1990s hit ''By Faith''. She was Miss Manatee and Miss Florida 1983 and competed at Miss America 1984. Boyce's hit singles include "Good Enough" (#2 in 1991), "Weapon of Good" (#14 in 1991), "When Love Calls Your Name" (#12 in 1992). The song "When Love Calls Your Name", which was a hit 1992 single for Boyce, was written by Tom Snow and Jimmy Scott and originally recorded in 1991 by Cher on the album ''Love Hurts (Cher album), Love Hurts''. Boyce now resides in the Branson, Missouri, area with her husband, Gary Koreiba. They were both performers at Branson's Pierce Arrow Theater for many years. As of 2022 they currently are featured performers in the "Oh Happy Day!" gospel music show performing Sundays at the Hamners' Variety Theater. They have two sons. Jolley & Swain
Steven Nicholas Jolley (born April 1950) and Tony Swain (born 20 January 1952, London, England) were a successful songwriting and record production duo in the United Kingdom in the early to mid-1980s, producing some of the top artists and songs of the era. Career The pair met in 1975 when Swain was working as a television cameraman on ''The Muppet Show'', where Jolley was sound technician and sometimes boom operator. They formed the band Chaser in 1975 with Richard Palmer (rhythm guitar and percussion), Nick Adams (lead guitar), Ray Bailey (bass) and Brian Grant (drums). Chaser released the single "Red Rum" (1975), written by Jolley, Palmer and Swain, on Polydor as a tribute to the famous racehorse. Swain left to pursue a career as a songwriter/record producer while Jolley released a single and an album with The English Boys in 1980. CCM AC chart was an adult contemporary chart that was originally started by ''CCM Magazine'' in 1978. According to author Jeffrey Lee Brothers in his book ''Hot Hits: AC Charts 1978 – 2001,'' "When ''CCM'' published music charts, it received data from a specific number of radio stations regarding the number of times a song was played. This airplay data was then assigned points and weights based on the cumulative number of plays per song. The result was a weekly chart that ranked the most played, and presumably, most popular songs. The AC charts have long covered the most radio stations in the Christian music industry. The charts themselves have gone through several changes over the years. When ''CCM'' first published its radio hits charts, AC was not a recognized format. What is today considered adult contemporary was then covered under the title of contemporary hits. Lynn Arthur Nichols is an American songwriter, producer,(January 24, 2009New 'Day' Dawns ''Billboard (magazine)'' (identifying Nichols as a producer with associations with Phil Keaggy and Switchfoot) and musician from New York who now resides in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1977, Nichols was a member of the Phil Keaggy Band, with Phil Madeira, Terry Andersen and Dan Cunningham. The band released one album together, entitled '' Emerging''. Fretless Bass
A fretless bass is a bass guitar whose neck does not have any frets. While the instrument is played in all styles of music, it is most common in pop, rock, and jazz. It first saw widespread use during the 1970s, although some players used them before then. Instead of being invented by an instrument manufacturer, the first fretless basses usually resulted from modifications made by bass guitar players. One of the first (if not the first) examples of this is Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman, who removed the frets from his bass guitar in 1961 to fix a fret buzz issue. The first fretless bass to be produced by a designated company is the Ampeg AUB1, first released in 1965. Characteristics The lack of frets allows for more fluid slides between notes, but also requires greater precision by the player, as the instrument may sound out of tune if notes are not fretted accurately. John Patitucci (born December 22, 1959) is an American jazz bassist and composer. Biography John James Patitucci was born in Brooklyn, New York. When he was 12, he bought his first bass and decided on his career. He listened to bass parts in R&B songs on the radio and on his grandfather's jazz records. He cites as influences Oscar Peterson's albums with Ray Brown and Wes Montgomery's with Ron Carter. For the development of rhythm, he points to the time he has spent with Danilo Pérez, a pianist from Panama.
