Killin Music Festival
Killin Music Fest is a Scottish music festival held annually in Killin, Perthshire. Killin Music Fest The festival was launched in late 2015 by a local voluntary team who started planning for their first event in the summer of 2016. In June 2016, the weekend festival was attended by nearly 1,000 people and hosted over 100 artists across Friday 17, Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 June 2016. The festival incorporates one main stage in the McLaren Hall, Killin, along with workshops, sessions and fringe activities throughout the area. In November 2016 the festival was nominated as the Best New Festival at the UK Festival Awards 2016. In June 2017, the festival expanded to include a session tent marquee. In November 2017, the festival was nominated for Event of the Year in the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards 2017, one of five finalists. Killin
Killin (; (Scottish Gaelic: ''Cill Fhinn'') is a village in Perthshire in the central highlands of Scotland. Situated at the western head of Loch Tay, it is administered by the Stirling Council area. Killin is a historic conservation village and sits within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. It is the central settlement of the historic region of Breadalbane. Tide Lines
Glasgow-based 4 piece, Tide Lines, have grown their large & passionate fanbase through blistering live shows and their trademark anthemic songs. Bending the edges of a number of genres, their neo-folk/rock sound has massive appeal. This unique appeal stems from escapist lyrics mixed with driving undercurrents of drums, guitars and keyboards, with themes based firmly in the band members musical roots. Karen Matheson
Karen Matheson OBE (born 11 February 1963) is a Scottish folk singer who frequently sings in Gaelic. She is the lead singer of the group Capercaillie and was a member of Dan Ar Braz's group L'Héritage des Celtes, with whom she often sang lead vocals, either alone or with Elaine Morgan. She and Morgan sang together on the Breton language song "Diwanit Bugale", the French entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996. She made a cameo appearance in the 1995 movie '' Rob Roy'' singing the song "Ailein duinn". Biography She grew up in the small village of Taynuilt in the region of Argyll, western Scotland. Skerryvore (from the Gaelic ''An Sgeir Mhòr'' meaning "The Great Skerry") is a remote island that lies off the west coast of Scotland, southwest of Tiree. Mànran are a Scottish band that was established in June 2010. Mànran is a Gaelic word for a melodic sound or a sweet tone. Since 2010 they have performed in over 30 countries worldwide including several international folk & world music festivals, won awards home and abroad and were invited to do a special one-off concert for the 2012 London Olympics. The band embarked on their first trip to America in 2013 which was filmed by BBC ALBA for a one-hour-long documentary. Gnoss is a neotraditional Scottish folk band. History The band was formed in 2015 by Moodie and Rorie, both from Orkney. Sinclair and Baxter joined soon after. Patrick Callaghan (12 August 1879 – 26 February 1959) was a Scottish footballer who played for Hibernian and represented Scotland once. Callaghan, who played mainly as an inside left, was a "superb servant" of Hibernian, playing for the club for his whole career from debut in 1899 until his retirement in 1914. Early in his time with the club, he won the Scottish Cup in 1902 and the league championship in 1903; Callaghan made 21 appearances and scored nine goals in the latter triumph. Niteworks (also known by the Scottish Gaelic ''Obair Oidhche'') is an Electronic Celtic fusion band from the Isle of Skye. The band are known for writing new songs in Gaelic and melding the bagpipes and Gaelic songs such as puirt a beul with techno and house beats. History Niteworks came together in early 2008. Shortly after forming, the band won several awards including the Rapal song contest with "Nam Aonar san Fonn". Niteworks' name comes from a sample of an old Gaelic speaker referring to "Obair Oidhche" or Night Work.
